We can’t wait to see everyone and kick off another great year at Puxico! For safety and security, parents and guests will not be able to walk students to the classroom on the first day of school. We encourage you to attend Open House, meet your child(ren)’s teachers, and finalize any transportation plans for the beginning of the school year. We ask families to make plans for elementary children to use the same type of transportation on day 1 for both arrival to school and at the end of the school day. If your child is a bus rider, there is less anxiety when they know the driver and it is much easier for our route drivers to drop off students at the correct stop in the afternoon if they are already familiar with picking them up at that location. *Please note the following information: ➔ Student drop off for all students is at the north end of the Puxico Activity Center (FEMA Building). Drop off time begins at 7:30 and ends at 8:00 or whenever the line is finished. ➔ Parents dropping off only junior high students may use the gravel by the Little Indians Preschool, but please be aware we will also have families of preschool students that will have to park while dropping off students in that location. Watch for all of our excited Little Indians, student drivers, bus crossings, and student walkers. ➔ DO NOT drop off high school students in front of the high school office. We have a large number of students walking between buildings in that area. Parents dropping off only high school students can use the right corner of the FEMA lot. ➔ Please follow directions of school staff when entering any lot, we will do our best to help students unload quickly and safely. ➔ DO NOT use the roadway, E. Reed Ave, near the elementary and junior high office for student drop-offs. That area is reserved for bus traffic and student walkers only. Your assistance in providing a safe area for our bus traffic and student walkers is important. Thank you in advance for understanding. ➔ Classes begin at 8:00 a.m., free breakfast is provided for all students. ➔ PHS 2026 Grads will take their Last, First Day Picture on the FEMA steps at 8:15. We ask parents/guardians that want to participate in this event to arrive in the FEMA lot at 8:00, or a few minutes after, to assist with congestion and prevent overcrowding in the FEMA parking lot during drop off. This will also allow all PHS student drivers to access their parking spots. ➔ Transportation changes will not be accepted after 2:30. First Day of School Free breakfast will be available for all students starting at 7:30 AM. Classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM — leave early and allow extra time for buses and student walkers. Drop-Off & Pick-Up Safety To help keep everyone safe, please follow all school signage and traffic instructions. Here's what we ask: ● All car riders should be dropped off and picked up in the Puxico Activity Center (FEMA) parking lot, off Highway 51. ● Please do not drive between: ○ The elementary and junior high buildings ○ The high school and cafeteria ● Avoid the top parking lot in front of the high school—students regularly cross this area between buildings. ● Do not drop off students at: ○ The corner of N. Bedford and E. Reed ○ The junior high office parking lot ○ These areas interfere with buses and student walkers. We appreciate everyone who partners with us to keep our kids safe. Thank you for your cooperation! First Day Transportation for Younger Students For our younger elementary students, we ask that they use the same transportation method for both morning and afternoon on the first day of school. If your child won’t know how to guide the bus driver to your home, please make them a car rider that day. Morning pick-up helps our drivers with their PM routes. Changes to Transportation If there’s a change in your child’s normal transportation routine: ● Please send a note to the office or call before 2:30 PM. This ensures staff have time to communicate with students before dismissal. Questions? Contact Us: ● High School: (573) 222-3175 ● Junior High: (573) 222-3058 ● Elementary: (573) 222-3542 Offices reopen for the 2025–2026 school year on Friday, August 1. We’re looking forward to a great start—thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly and safely!
