When: Saturday MAY 10, 8a to ~11a, ebird hotspot: http://ebird.org/ebird/hotspot/L506053 Leader: Amanda Seymour The variety of trees, lakes, marshes, grass and urban environments at Damonte Wetlands are home to many different types of birds! We'll be doing a 3 mile loop on a flat, paved path. We should expect to see Red-tailed Hawks, Cooper's Hawks, Northern Harriers, American Kestrels, and maybe a Bald Eagle or 2! In the reeds we may see Marsh Wrens, Red-winged Blackbirds, and Song Sparrows. White-crowned Sparrows and Say's Phoebes also like to hang out nearby. On the ground we may see California Quail, Killdeer, Western Meadowlarks, Starlings, Brewer's Blackbirds and Great-tailed Grackles. The shallow water attracts Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets. At the lakes we might see Green-winged Teal, Common Mergansers, Mallards, Canada Geese, American Coots, Tundra Swans, California Gulls, Greater Yellowlegs and more. In the trees we may see woodpeckers and common songbirds. Registration is not yet available. Members will receive notice of field trip registration via email.

When: Wednesday, MAY 14, 8 to 10 AM Leader: Kennady Pine We will start by exploring the short Verdi Mill Pond Trail where we will look for various kinds of waterfowl. Some recent sightings include Gadwalls, Ring Necked Ducks, and American Wigeons. We will then walk the Interpretive Trail Loop, where we'll look for Jays, Pygmy Nuthatches, Bushtits, Flickers, and more! Along the way we'll stop along the river to look for Common Mergansers, Goldeneyes, and American Dippers.  Registration is not yet available. When: Sunday MAY 18, 8a to ~10a, ebird hotspot: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L15962918 Leader: Jaida Marinas Rosewood Nature Study Area is a 220-acre wetland that is currently under restoration through Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation. On this walk you can expect to see herons, egrets, a variety of sparrows, and some birds of prey such as eagles, hawks, and kestrels. We should see several species of waterfowl including ducks and geese.  Registration is not yet available. Members will receive notice of field trip registration via email.
