When: Friday OCT 31, 8a to ~11a Leader: Jo Ann Cobb We will walk along the Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway that runs through the park and along the Truckee River.  There are many Cottonwoods, which attract Magpies & Jays and the river and banks have a nice mix of Ducks, Common and Barrowâs Goldeneye and Mergansers.  There is a good chance of seeing Sparrows, Chickadees, Wrens, Woodpeckers, Raptors even a Golden or Bald Eagle and Dippers.  We may see Great Horned Owl, Thrush, and Bluebirds as well. When: Friday NOV 7, 8a to ~11a, ebird hotspot: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L4709604 Leader: Jeff Bleam   This trail runs along the Truckee River east of Sparks.  This time of year we should find a few ducks and possibly Wood Ducks and Hooded Mergansers.  We could see Hawks, Belted Kingfishers, Cormorants, Woodpeckers, Kestrels, Phoebes, and first arriving Swallows.  The trail has been extended adding to the waterfront that can be investigated.   Click Here to Register.

Date/Time: Sunday, Nov 9 from 9a - 10:30a Leader: Ashley Walker   This bird walk will highlight the unique contributions different bird species provide to our ecosystems. In honor of Veterans Day, your bird walk leader will provide compelling parallels between certain bird species and the way our nations veterans have contributed to our specific freedoms and liberties today. With guidance and creative speculation, attendees are encouraged to create a simple bird themed âThank Youâ card for a veteran. These cards will be hand delivered to the Veterans Affairs Hospital on Veterans Day.  Expect a leisurely 20 minute walk with about 30 minutes of card making. Click Here to Register.

When: Saturday NOV 15, 8a to ~11a Leader: Amanda Seymour   The variety of trees, lakes, marshes, grass and urban environments at Damonte Wetlands are home to many different types of birds! We'll be doing a 3 mile loop on a flat, paved path. We should expect to see Red-tailed Hawks, Cooper's Hawks, Northern Harriers, American Kestrels, and maybe a Bald Eagle or 2! In the reeds we may see Marsh Wrens, Red-winged Blackbirds, and Song Sparrows. White-crowned Sparrows and Say's Phoebes also like to hang out nearby. On the ground we may see California Quail, Killdeer, Western Meadowlarks, Starlings, Brewer's Blackbirds and Great-tailed Grackles. The shallow water attracts Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets. At the lakes we might see Green-winged Teal, Common Mergansers, Mallards, Canada Geese, American Coots, Tundra Swans, California Gulls, Greater Yellowlegs and more. In the trees we may see woodpeckers and common songbirds. Registration is not yet available. Members will receive notice of field trip registration via email.
