Seed Swap held by Piscataqua Seed Project (PSP) and Seacoast NH Permaculture Get ready for Spring! PSP will have seeds available and attendees are encouraged to bring seeds saved from their own garden or unused seeds they have purchased. Any extra seeds will become part of the PSP community seed bank and made available to growers and gardeners throughout the Seacoast. Our seeds are free but donations to support the seed bank will be gladly accepted at the event. The Piscataqua Seed Project is a community-based organization whose mission is to empower people to grow food locally and save heirloom seeds for future generations. We encourage the sharing of skills and knowledge and believe that a healthy food system is critical for creating resilient communities and connecting us to our cultural heritage. The Barrington Public Library and the Barrington Historical Society brings Mary Adams of the New Hampshire Historical Society to present "Redcoats & Rebels: New Hampshire and the American Revolution".  New Hampshire often gets overlooked in the narrative of the American Revolution, overshadowed by its noisy neighbor to the south. Nowadays, few people know about Paul Revere’s first ride, which was to Portsmouth in December 1774 to warn the patriots that the British were coming to reinforce Fort William and Mary, five months before the Redcoats marched on Concord and Lexington. Nor do they know that two-thirds of the troops at the Battle of Bunker Hill were from New Hampshire. Most people are also unaware that New Hampshire’s Provincial Congress adopted the first state constitution in January 1776, making no mention of royal authority and essentially declaring independence from Great Britain six months before anyone else. And this is just the beginning of New Hampshire’s revolutionary story. This program is made possible by New Hampshire Humanities. Learn more at www.nhhumanities.org. This workshop is intended for those (18+) who wish to expand and hone their writing skills. Join us this month to read, discuss, and create poems to kick off National Poetry Month. Bring your original creations, or your favorite poem, to share. Angela Deschesne holds a Masters in Teaching with a focus in Secondary Education English/Writing. She taught in private and public education in CT, CO, and NH for 10 years. She lives in Barrington with her husband and two boys, and is now a paraprofessional at the ECLC. Her favorite authors are Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King.
