UVYP Monthly Game Night @ The Fourth Place The Upper Valley Young Professionals and The Fourth Place will host a free monthly board game night for young professionals and near peers! Join us on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm for board games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Root, Dixit, and many, many more. The Fourth Place is open until 10pm, so you can stay as long as your game takes. The Fourth Place provides free access to several tables, and dozens of games that rotate each week, plus for this event one premium table will be available for UVYP members and their guests and fellow players! As with all UVYP events, you are welcome to attend whether or not you’ve ever been to one of our events before. Two musical powerhouses boldly reimagine classics by Liszt, Chopin and Schubert. Renowned for their collaborative spirit, the Grammy Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra has played without a conductor since their inception, performing with "edge-of-the-seat intensity" and displaying an "infectious love for making music" (The New York Times) for audiences around the world.  Marc-André Hamelin, a pianist praised for his "commanding technique" along with his "warmth and affection" (The New York Times), shares the stage with Orpheus in his first appearance at the Hop. He navigates the emotionally and physically draining Wanderer Fantasy in a newly commissioned orchestration that updates Liszt's concerto version. Hamelin is himself a formidable pianist-composer, as heard in the rich counterpoint of his Passacaglia. Michi Wiancko's take on fanciful delights by Chopin and the unflinchingly honest final sonata from Schubert allow the orchestra to flesh out sounds and emotions buried within these piano masterpieces.

A message from Judith: In this two-hour workshop you will explore how to write a portrait of a person. We will read and analyze some examples from literature. This 2 hour class will cover pasta making from choosing ingredients for the best chances of pasta success, to using a pasta machine to make spaghetti and fettuccine. Drinks will be available for purchase from Silo distillery before, during, and after the class. You will leave the class with raw pasta to be cooked at home. Participants will be partnered for the class so bring a gal, or be prepared to make a new Galentines friend! We will discuss selecting flours and other ingredients, make a dough (we will be kneading the pasta dough by hand for 10 minutes so bring your muscles!), demystifying the pasta sheeter and learning best practices for use. Led by Director Brian Messier, the ensemble is joined by guest conductor Luis Manuel Sánchez and student artists from UNAM to premiere a Hop-commissioned symphony for band by the preeminent Mexican composer. They also perform Hop commissions and works by Mexican composers, including the world premiere of Antrópolis by Gabriela Ortiz with a new arrangement by Messier, featuring Amy Garapic on timpani. They also premiere Concertino for Harp and Wind Ensemble by Omar Arrellano Osorio and perform a piece by Eduardo Gamboa. In a landmark creative partnership, the Hop is leading a commission for a new work by Márquez, with many universities and institutions contributing to its creation as consortium partners. In addition, Dartmouth will be commissioning and creating a platform for the winner of the annual Márquez competition.

Craft, move and parade to welcome the Year of the Horse! Lunar New Year signifies the coming of spring and is celebrated around the globe in East Asian cultures. 2026 will be the Year of the Horse, symbolizing power, beauty and freedom.  Experience crafting, dance and tai chi and then join the parade with our 12-person puppet dragon around the Hop and the Dartmouth Green. The hit public-radio series is back for an evening of funny, mysterious and poignant short stories about love, performed live by eminent actors. In collaboration with the Department of English & Creative Writing Just in time for Valentine's, Palentine's and, for you non-believers, a beautiful Saturday in February, Selected Shorts returns to the Hop with surprising romances, competing desires and unexpected encounters. Grab your partner, best friends or arch-nemesis for this special night! Stay tuned for casting news. Selected Shorts was conceived at Symphony Space in New York City in 1985 with one simple premise—great short stories performed by great actors. Flash-forward nearly 40 years, and Selected Shorts is broadcast on over 150 radio stations around the country, with more than 100,000 downloads every week. Each Selected Shorts is a completely original and unique evening of literature brought to life. Dartmouth's Creative Writing Program will host a short story writing contest open to all undergraduates. The winner will be selected in collaboration with Selected Shorts' producers, and will be performed as part of the event.

On Saturday, February 14, we invite you to join us for a rare and intimate evening in our historic home — a carefully curated experience designed to slow time, set a beautiful table, and create space for connection, care, and ease. This is not a restaurant night and not a performance you attend from the sidelines. It is an evening fully hosted and thoughtfully held from beginning to end — one where guests are welcomed into a warm, candlelit atmosphere and invited to simply arrive, settle in, and be nourished. The evening begins with a complimentary signature cocktail upon arrival, followed by a seated three-course dinner served at two handcrafted farmhouse tables, shared among just twenty guests across two adjoining dining rooms. Chef Tony will prepare a seasonal winter menu featuring: A winter salad with pomegranate (chef-driven and seasonal) Pork osso bucco with saffron risotto Your choice of dessert: Chocolate molten lava cake with peppermint ice cream, or Maple white chocolate cheesecake Non-alcoholic beverages are included throughout the evening. Guests are welcome to bring additional wine or beer if they wish. After dinner, guests will gather in the parlor for a private, romantic piano and song experience created especially for this evening by Tim Kelly. Tim will weave together beloved classics from Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, romantic Broadway favorites, and selections from the Great American Songbook — performed in an intimate piano-bar style that invites warmth, nostalgia, and shared presence. A masterful pianist and vocalist, Tim is a lifelong professional musician who has performed more than 9,000 times across Las Vegas, New York City, Boston, Florida, and aboard cruise ships worldwide, and has performed for Presidents Bush and Clinton. For this evening, his performance is crafted specifically for our guests and the setting we share. Gratuity is included in the ticket price, allowing the evening to unfold with ease and generosity. Tickets are limited to 20 guests. This is a one-night experience, offered with great care. We look forward to welcoming you to our home to gather in good company.
