As you and your child begin to prepare for their Kindergarten experience, we invite you to join us on Friday afternoons for Core Knowledge learning, enrichment activities, and adventures. Our sessions are free and open to children aged 3.5 and up. The program will be taught by our lead Kindergarten teacher, Erica Kurash, and is a great opportunity to learn more about our special school and the extraordinary educational opportunities we offer. This program requires a minimum of five participants to run. Please note: The independence of a “potty-trained” child is a prerequisite for the program. Students will dive into fairytales, characters, emotions, story building, acting, STEM, crafts, and more! If you’re interested in learning more about our full-day kindergarten program and school year offerings, we invite you to schedule a visit and tour at any time.

Join UVMC guest Mercedes Escobar for an interactive workshop focused on practical tools and techniques for developing musical ideas into fully formed songs. Drawing from approaches studied at Berklee College of Music, the session explores melody development, lyric writing techniques, song structure, and creative workflow strategies. This workshop is programmed in conjunction with the performance at UUCUV’s Roots & Wings Coffeehouse on March 28. Mercedes Escobar studied at Berklee, where she served on the Berklee Songwriting Student Council. She has been a finalist in the Latin category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, received a songwriting award from Berklee, and was nominated for a Boston Music Awards within six months of beginning her career in the United States. Her artistry has also been recognized by 3-time Grammy-winning artist and producer Gaby Moreno, who praised her voice and songwriting in Vogue Mexico. Her upcoming album of all-original music will include collaborations in different genres with Joe Bonamassa, Fabiola Mendez, Luis Conte (of James Taylor, Eric Clapton and Santana fame) as well as Gaby Moreno herself on backing vocals. Join us on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm for board games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Root, Dixit, and many, many more. The Fourth Place is open until 10pm, so you can stay as long as your game takes. The Fourth Place provides free access to several tables, and dozens of games that rotate each week, plus for this event one premium table will be available for UVYP members and their guests and fellow players! As with all UVYP events, you are welcome to attend whether or not you’ve ever been to one of our events before.
