Five Consecutive Thursdays  Time: 9am-10am Dates: March 19, 25 April 2, 9, and 16 Place: Jackson Public Library *Fully Accessible Location and a supportive learning environment: Classes are open to all ages, levels, and abilities. **This free series is sponsored by the Friends of the Jackson Public Library This Introduction to Tai Chi will incorporate movement, breathing, and mental focus through a modified short-form, which will allow participants to continue for a lifetime of practice. The fundamentals of this form serve as a stand-alone practice and, also, as a foundational introduction for all other Tai Chi forms as well. About Tai Chi Tai chi is a slow, gentle, ancient form of exercise that stimulates, nurtures, and increases strength, flexibility, balance, and overall wellbeing. Over that time, he has learned several Tai Chi forms and for the past 15 years, Charles has been steeped in the Mt. Emei Style of Qi Qong, as transmitted to him by the current lineage holder, Master Zhongxian Wu. Charles is also a seasoned educator with over 40 years of experience with learners ranging from ages pre-school to post-retirement. As an eternal student who is deeply informed by the living world, Charles considers the study, practice, and sharing of these internal arts as “his lens, his window, his mirror, his medicine…and an endless wellspring of curiosity, wisdom, and joy.”

Join us for Storytime at 11am! There will be stories, songs, action rhymes, and plenty of fun. This program is open to the public and is best suited for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers.

JPL’s CookBook Club meets on the last Tuesday of the month, every other month at 5:30pm. Typically it is January, March, May, July, September and November.  A cookbook or theme of cooking is chosen ahead of time, then patrons check out the book, select a recipe to make and bring it to share at a potluck dinner at the library. It is a great way to branch out and try new foods and recipes and learn from others experiences in shopping and preparing the recipe.  Cookbook Club: Choose a recipe. Make it. Bring it.  A practical, interactive lecture featuring live AI demonstrations and open discussion, examining real capabilities, limits, risks, and how people can use today’s AI tools confidently. -- This is an updated version of the Lunch & Learn Bill did for JPL last year.Bill Gassman is a Moultonboro resident, retired IT professional and longtime community volunteer with a career spanning computer networking, data analysis, and practical technology adoption. He now focuses on helping local organizations, boards, and individuals understand and use new technologies thoughtfully and confidently. Bill regularly gives talks on AI and emerging tools, emphasizing real-world examples, clear thinking, and open discussion.
