Join us on a guided hike of the most popular trail at Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area, and learn about the history of the property and the nature you will encounter along the way! The Brook Walk follows Shannon Brook as it rambles through the woods and leads to viewpoints of seven spectacular waterfalls, with much of the trail following the route that led Ossipee Mountain Park visitors to these points more than a century ago. Signs along the trail provide descriptions of the waterfalls and include old images, providing an idea of how these falls appeared to visitors many years ago. This is a moderate hike of about 2.5 miles and has an elevation climb of approximately 300’. It also includes several sections of rock stairs. Please wear appropriate footwear, dress for the weather, and bring sunscreen and bug spray as desired. Please note, you will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival. While dogs on leashes are usually permitted on the trails, for the comfort of all attendees, dogs are not allowed at this program. All ticket sales are final no refunds, transfers to other days, or exchanges.

Join our head gardener, Gretchen Large, in touring Lucknow’s garden landscapes, and pick up some gardening tips and tricks for you to use at home!  Gretchen is excited to share with you her passion for gardening, which is displayed in the beautiful and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces surrounding the Castle. She even has her own business called The Random Gardener! The gardens are constantly changing throughout the season, and no two tours are the same. We invite you to come back multiple times – there is always something new to see! This tour includes walking through our gardens. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Please arrive five minutes early to check in at the Carriage House. Froma there, you will be transported up to Lucknow Mansion for the tour.  All ticket sales are final no refunds, transfers to other days, or exchanges.

Get in touch with your inner creativity, inspired by the natural beauty of Castle in the Clouds! Come wonder and wander with us on paper and at Lucknow. The past often follows us like a shadow, while the future generally speaks through gentle tugs. If we listen, both can tell us something about ourselves, others and how to live in a world of twists and turns we can’t predict. When we put pen to paper, surprise is inevitable. We will use written, visual and auditory prompts to poke around in both areas. For this generative writing experience, only a willingness to explore is necessary. This workshop involves easy walking on Castle grounds. Please bring a small notepad and pencil or cell phone that records, dress for the weather, and wear appropriate footwear. You might consider bringing a hat, bug repellent, and a small cushion to sit on. All ticket sales are final no refunds, transfers to other days, or exchanges.

Following a brief informational presentation, we’ll take to the fields as a group to make observations about butterflies and to start collecting data. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing.

Disobey your mother and look at the sun…through a hydrogen-alpha telescope! Each Sunday, members of the NH Astronomical Society set up their telescopes in the field by Shannon Pond. Drop by and speak with the astronomers, learn about the sun, and try out their telescopes anytime between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. Solar Gazing requires clear skies. In the event that it is raining or overcast, there will be an opportunity to chat with the astronomers in the Winnipesaukee Room on the second floor of the Carriage House instead. This is a free program and registration is encouraged but not required.

Castle in the Clouds is partnering with the Moultonborough Public Library to bring you Story Time and Craft Hour at Castle in the Clouds! Join us on Mondays throughout the summer to hear stories relating to a different theme each week, followed by a guided craft project. This program will be held at the picnic pavilions near Shannon Pond. In case of inclement weather, it will be moved to the Winnipesaukee Room on the second floor of the Carriage House. This is a free program and registration is encouraged, as it helps us plan craft supplies, but is not required.

Wind down in the evening with yoga on the Lawns of Lucknow! An experienced, local yoga instructor will lead enthusiasts of all levels in evening yoga. Relish the tranquility that comes from practicing yoga in a beautiful, outdoor mountain setting. Whether you have never done yoga before or if you practice it regularly, you will find relaxation and enjoyment in this class geared to all ages and skill levels. Remember to bring your mat and water bottle with you! Please plan to arrive at 5:45 pm for check-in at the front of the Carriage House, and we’ll make our way up to the Lucknow Mansion via the footpath.
