Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just starting out, this event is perfect for all levels of bird enthusiasts. During this introductory walk, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the World Series of Birding and the diverse bird species that call the sanctuary home. Our experienced guide Sue will help you spot and identify various birds while sharing interesting facts about their behaviors and habitats. Don’t miss this chance to connect with nature and discover the beauty of birdwatching. Grab your binoculars and join us for a morning filled with birding adventures! No worries if you don’t own binoculars we have loaner binoculars for you in our Nature Store! Registration required before the walk. MEETING LOCATION: Please meet in the lower parking lot. Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist The Lord Stirling Park birdwalks have had up to 70 species and 13 warbler species in one day. This is a great spot for flycatchers, vireos, warblers, and goodies like Great-horned Owl, Red-headed Woodpecker, Alder Flycatcher, Marsh Wren, and in some years Prothonotary Warbler. We will also spend some time at the East Observation Deck, which overlooks the adjacent Great Swamp marshes. Trails are level but may be wet depending on recent rain. Please bring your own binoculars or spotting scope if desired. There will be no equipment available to borrow. Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate.
