Join us at Makerspace on February 7, between 11am and 3pm, in the METC Education Annex at 23 Main Street, Madison, NJ. Whether you are looking for a kid-friendly project or for something creative to do after spending time at our Museum, Makerspace is the place to be. This month, special chocolate-themed activities like origami chocolate boxes, making Valentines, and more are in the Education Annex for the Rose City Chocolate Walk! Plus, hot chocolate for participants (while supplies last)! Children must be accompanied by guardians at all times.  $10/family, free for members. Special combo ticket of $15 includes entrance to the museum!

Join Book Arts Roundtable Coordinator Chris Schorr and the METC Curator Claudette Stecher Lopez for an in depth and behind the scenes tour of the exhibit on February 12 at 7PM. Chris Schorr, a longtime Madison resident, has been a member of the Book Arts Roundtable of New Jersey for more than a decade. She is familiar with each artist whose work is part of BOOKED 20, is passionate about the book arts, and has been active in the process of organizing this exhibit.

Join us in the Education Annex on Saturday February 21, at 1PM with Book Arts Roundtable Artist and Poet Cat Doty.  In this adult workshop, you will create a “square page” with poetry, collage, cartoon, lettering, or graphic design. Come experiment with art with us! For ages 16 and up. All materials will be provided. Meet Cat Doty:A native of Paterson, New Jersey, Catherine Doty is a poet, educator and cartoonist. Her first poetry collection, Momentum, was published in 2004 by CavanKerry Press and received a ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award. Her second volume of poems from CavanKerry, Wonderama, was published in 2021 and awarded the 2022 Paterson Poetry Prize.Doty spent decades working as a visiting poet for the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, The Frost Place, the New York Public Library, and many, many schools, and was named the New Jersey State Council on the Arts’ inaugural Distinguished Teaching Artist. She was a featured reader at the Dodge Poetry Festival, and her work has appeared on National Public Radio’s The Writer’s Almanac, as well as in journals and anthologies. She is the recipient of fellowships and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Academy of American Poets, and other organizations.

Enjoy hands-on activities in our collaborative work space geared towards kids ages 5 to 12.  Kids will use our 3D printer, build with Legos, make jewelry, experiment with our marble run and coding robots, and more!
