Feb 15: Noah Stevens, viola, is in demand as a violist. Recent engagements include his debut performance of Telemann’s viola concerto, a collaboration with the Attacca String Quartet, and playing electric viola with several New Jersey bands. His playing has been broadcast on EWTN, an international television network with over 400 million viewers.  He serves as principal viola for various ensembles, most notably the NYC Project Orchestra and the underStaffed Chamber Orchestra.  He has composed music for film and dance, and his concert music has been read by critically acclaimed ensembles like Time for Three and the Cavani String Quartet. Update: all reserved seats have been taken. When people do not attend or cancel their seats, unclaimed seats will be available at the start of the concert. There is no waitlist. The focus of our winter series will be the serenity and beauty of winter.  From the white snow intermingled with dark branches to the subtle colors of dried leaves and surprises of berries, the garden is a treasure of beauty in winter. Each class includes demonstrations and personal attention for each student. Some watercolor experience is desirable. We will work in Van Vleck’s Raymond Family Education Center. Each program will focus on a specific theme, and our Van Vleck Education team will guide your family through this interactive learning experience. All levels of yoga experience are welcome in this dynamic, inclusive class. Our teacher Jennifer Hondru-Celestin takes inspiration from the natural beauty around us to flow with the seasons, blending mindful movement, breath, meditation, and a good dose of humor and fun.  This class welcomes all levels from beginner to experienced yogis. Nature Journaling Thursday January 29th: 12:00 PM -1:00 PM Monday, February 23rd: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Escape the cold and step into a world of creative journaling!  Join Creative Development/Manager Tracey Diamond for a nature journaling class where you’ll observe the beauty of the Gardens and let it spark your creativity.  Even on the chilliest days of the winter season, we’ll learn how to connect with nature in a warm, cozy and calm setting – exploring different themes using the Van Vleck Gardens as inspiration.  Whether you are looking to reconnect to nature, expand your creativity or simply enjoy some mindful time, this class is for you! No art or writing experience necessary.  No pressure for perfection. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to explore! Garden Inspirations: Wonders of Winter Plein Air Watercolor Class with Sharon Pitts Tuesdays, February 17, 24, March 3, 10, 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM Registration will open on Tuesday, January 6. The focus of our winter series will be the serenity and beauty of winter.  From the white snow intermingled with dark branches to the subtle colors of dried leaves and surprises of berries, the garden is a treasure of beauty in winter. Each class includes demonstrations and personal attention for each student. Some watercolor experience is desirable. We will work in Van Vleck’s Raymond Family Education Center. A supply list will be sent after registration. Fee:  4-class Series: $200 Members / $225 General Public  Pre-Registration is required.  There are no drop-ins for this class. Deadline to register is Monday, February 16.
