Led by returning artist, saxophonist/flutist Tom Colao, this popular group will be performing jazz in the tradition of the jazz greats of the past and present. New World is a polished jazz ensemble of local professional musicians who have performed with Billy Hart, Rufus Reid, Kenny Wheeler, David Schnitter, Oliver Lake, Chuck Mangione, to mention a few. Members perform and teach around the country. The group has developed an enthusiastic following, playing jazz in the tradition of the jazz greats of the past and present. Tom Colao has studied with Paige Brooke NY Philharmonic, jazz great Hubert Law, and has performed with various jazz groups, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Temptations, Four Tops, Duprees in addition to recordings, show and theater works Music fills Van Vleck House on ‘Second Sundays’. The historic house’s light-filled living room, with its grand piano, is an ideal setting for chamber concerts.  Musicians love to perform there, and audiences love the intimate setting where they can converse with performers.  Classical, jazz, and song are lined up for the 2025-2026 season at Van Vleck’s Second Sunday concerts (Oct – June), celebrating 14 years this season. All concerts begin at 2PM. Seats are limited and reservations are recommended. Additional concerts may be scheduled as dates permit. REGISTERED SEATS FOR THIS CONCERT HAVE BEEN CLAIMED. Plein Air Watercolor Class with Sharon Pitts Tuesdays, November 4, 11, 18, 25, 1:00 – 3:30 PM Four Tuesday afternoons we will paint in the magical Van Vleck gardens or work from photos taken there. Each week will be in a different location in the garden. The class will concentrate on fascinating discoveries inspired by the variety of settings, from floral to trees to trails and secret gardens. Each class includes a demonstration of techniques, questions answered and personal attention for each student. Students should feel comfortable working with watercolor. We will work in Van Vleck’s Raymond Family Education Center. Supply list will be sent after registration.   Fee:  4-class Series: $200 Members / $225 General Public Pre Registration is required.  There are no drop-ins for this class.
