Letâs explore the outdoors and discover the wonders of nature! Each classwill include a story, a nature exploration, student-led inquiry, and free play.Based on the âforest schoolâ concept, this outdoor education model focuses onstudent interactions with natural spaces and offers hands-on learning in awoodland environment. This program is ideally outdoors and will take place inmost types of weather including light drizzle/rain and cooler temperatures. Theexception is heavy rain/winds, thunderstorms, or other unsafe weather when theclass will be held indoors. SCOUTING AMERICA MERIT BADGE: BIRD STUDY Sunday, March 8          AllAbout Birds and Birding Workshop         9:30 AM to 4 PM Sunday, March 29        Birding Field Trip           9:30 to 11:30 AM Independent assignments: Requirement 13(either option) andRequirement 5 (10 of the 20 journal entries on your own; the rest will be donein class) Would your scout like to earn their bird study badge? Our meritbadge counselors are certified. While completing this badge with the naturecenter, scouts will learn about birds, their connections to the natural world,tips for identifying them, go on a bird field trip with other scouts, usebinoculars and a scope, and have a chance to see birds in their naturalhabitats. This yearâs field trip will focus on winter ducks and possiblyraptors. One parent is required to join their scout for the field trip for thepurpose of driving to 2-3 locations, locally within a small geographic area.Equipment will be provided. During the workshop day at Rancocas, scouts willhave a half hour lunch break and two 15-minute breaks. Scouts should bringlunch, snacks, and drinks and dress appropriately for both indoor and outdoor activities.Participation on both days is required to complete the badge. Cost: $45/perscout.
