Each week the group will discuss a topic in English to help improve their conversational skills. Join us on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays via Zoom. Are you interested in practicing English and meeting new people? Join one or more of our English Conversation CafĂŠs, meeting in person at the library! This program is an informal conversation practice group for adult language learners who can hold a simple conversation in English. Participants engage in one-on-one or small-group conversations with Conversation Facilitators discussing a variety of topics. You must be over the age of 18 to participate. The library, with support from the Friends of the New Brunswick Free Public Library, once again commemorates the Day of the Dead with a celebration in the Carl T. Valenti Community Room. Take part in creating the Day of the Dead altar by writing the name of someone you want to remember and honor on a colorful paper. You can bring photos or draw a picture of your loved one(s) to take place at the altar.   The celebration will be a rich cultural experience featuring a movie screening, story time, papel picado (paper flower making), and other Day of the Dead crafts. {More details may be posted closer to the event date.} The festivities will culminate with a delightful sampling of pan de Muertos (bread) and champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate). Please note that food samples are limited. (Open only to New Brunswick residents.)   Program consists of: 11 weeks of interactive family sessions Extra support from Family Advocated Family dinner each week Child care for younger siblings Earn up to $450 for completing the program.
