Bach, Beethoven & the Boys: Classical Music Through the Ages, with Amanda Fernandes

Amanda (McArthur) Fernandes grew up in Ontario, Canada, second of seven children. She began playing piano at age 8 after begging for lessons for years and advanced quickly through the Royal Conservatory of Toronto program. She performed in competitions, for fundraisers ......More

Amanda (McArthur) Fernandes grew up in Ontario, Canada, second of seven children. She began playing piano at age 8 after begging for lessons for years and advanced quickly through the Royal Conservatory of Toronto program. She performed in competitions, for fundraisers and even performed for the Premier of Ontario. At 15 she began playing professionally for churches and continued in Vancouver, BC, where she taught herself to play organ and performed concerts and recorded the score of an independent film. She currently is enjoying accompanying the choirs and jazz band at Maywood Avenue School in Maywood. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of River Edge

Chess Club and Speedcubing - Children and teens are welcome to drop-in and play chess with players of all levels or race against fellow speedcubers. Exchange strategies, compete, and play with each other and learn new moves! Chessboards, cubes, and timers will be available. FYI: Speedcubing is a competitive sport involving solving a variety of combination puzzles, the most famous being the 3x3x3 puzzle or Rubik's Cube.
