Each month, participants meet at the library to review basic ASL signs, practice fingerspelling, learn songs and enjoy interactive games.Please note: this is not a class, and no certificates or completion credits are provided. However, Niki holds an Interpreting II Certificate and has advanced knowledge of ASL and interpreting. She is happy to offer guidance to anyone interested in pursuing this career path!This free program for adults requires registration due to limited seating and printing costs. To reserve your spot, please register as soon as possible through our website or by calling the Reference Desk.Printed packets are only provided to registered attendees. Certified teachers from Relax Mind & Body located at 621 S. Main Street in Williamstown will be here offering Chair Functional Stretch Classes. Chair functional stretches are exercises that can be done while seated in a chair to improve flexibility, mobility and circulation. These stretches can be beneficial for people of all ages and fitness levels, and they are particularly useful for those who spend a lot of time sitting or have limited mobility. The Bookworms Book Club is a reading group for adults that meets at 1:00 on the third Wednesday of each month. All are welcome to read along with us and attend our discussions in the library meeting room. No registration is required.The Jackal's Mistress by Chris BohjalianVirginia, 1864—Libby Steadman’s husband has been away for so long that she can barely conjure his voice in her dreams. While she longs for him in the night, fearing him dead in a Union prison camp, her days are spent running a gristmill; all the grain they can produce requisitioned by the Confederate Army. It’s an uneasy life in the Shenandoah Valley, the territory frequently changing hands, control swinging back and forth like a pendulum between North and South, and Libby awakens every morning expecting to see her land a battlefield. And then she finds a gravely injured Union officer left for dead in a neighbor’s house, the bones of his hand and leg shattered. Captain Jonathan Weybridge of the Vermont Brigade is her enemy, but he’s also a human being, and Libby must make a terrible decision: Does she leave him to die alone? Or does she risk treason and try to nurse him back to health? But in 1950, the world is changing, especially the world of books and publishing, and at Bloomsbury Books, the girls in the shop have plans: Vivien Lowry: Single since her aristocratic fiance was killed in action during World War II, the brilliant and stylish Vivien has a long list of grievances. Grace Perkins: Married with two sons, she's been working to support the family following her husband's breakdown in the aftermath of the war. Evie Stone: In the first class of female students from Cambridge permitted to earn a degree, Evie was denied an academic position in favor of her less accomplished male rival. Now she's working at Bloomsbury Books while she plans to remake her own future. Welcome to the Nightmare on Marsha Ave Book Club! We’re a spooky little group of readers who meet on the last Wednesday of each month at 2 PM (unless otherwise noted). Our haunted hearts explore a wide range of eerie, strange, and thrilling reads from gothic fiction, mystery and sci-fi, to fantasy, psychological thrillers and more. Not every book we read is traditional “horror,” but they all dabble in the weird, the dark, or the delightfully unsettling. We love variety and encourage diversity in our book picks because horror wears many faces (some with very sharp teeth).A quick heads-up: Some books may contain strong language, disturbing themes, or sensitive subject matter. We recommend doing a little digging before reading to make sure it’s the right fit for you.Occasionally, we’ll dive into graphic novels and short stories instead of full-length books. You don’t have to read both to join the discussion... Just pick the one that calls to you (or read both if you’re feeling brave).Materials can often be found through the library system or online. Short stories are usually available for free online, and many graphic novels can be found on Hoopla or through interlibrary loan services. Wellington features an amazing cast of characters and calls upon centuries of supernatural myths, folktales, and, well, lore to tell the secret history of this illustrious figure. February 2026 (2/2): Dreams in the Witch House (Short Story) by H.P. Lovecraft Walter Gilman, a mathematics student who rents an attic room in a house formerly occupied by the 17thcentury witch Keziah Mason, only to find himself experiencing shared dreams with her through the house's unnatural geometry. These dreams allow him to travel to alien dimensions and learn forbidden lore, eventually leading him to encounter Mason and her spawn, Brown Jenkin, before his sanity and life are consumed by their cosmic horrors.
