Elena Gallegos Trail and Open Space    Meeting Location: After entering, drive counter-clockwise around the entry station rondo, turning right at 2nd exit. Continue north past the Kiwanis Group Area to Cottonwood Springs Trail. Parking lot at Cottonwood Springs Trailhead. Click here for parking location. Description: Loop through grasslands, pinyon/juniper with a stop at the spring’s bird blind. Facilities: Vault toilets Fees: $1.00 fee per vehicle Difficulty/Accessibility: Easy 1.5 mile walk on packed dirt, gravel, and paved trails. Bikes use some of the trails we will walk. Alameda Bosque Trail Open Space Join us and our City and County Open Space partners for a birding adventure! Learn how to identify common species and the best locations around the city to spot our feathered friends during a roughly one-mile walk around the park or open space. You can practice using binoculars of your own or we will loan you a pair, along with a field guide. Foothills and Petroglyph walks include moderate hiking. Beginning and experienced birders of all ages are welcome! Seated and stationary birding will also be available.  The group will leave from the parking area at the beginning of the event – please arrive at the posted start time.
