Join The Phelps Mansion Museum for our newest program, Coding for Kids. Students enrolled in the Coding for Kids Workshop will learn the basics of coding through hands-on learning. All kids will need to provide their own lap-top or tablet with a mouse and keyboard. This is a series of workshops that will be offered at the museum. Admission is $10 This workshop is for kids ages 6-12 Kids will be able to build out interactive experiences that they can play and share with others. Shows Friday May 30th at 7:30pm, Saturday May 31st and Sunday June 1st at 2pm General admission seating: $15.00 Horton Foote’s moving play tells the story of Carrie Watts, an elderly woman, who longs to escape the cramped Houston apartment where she lives with her protective son, Ludie, and her authoritarian daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae. Carrie wants to return to her beloved hometown of Bountiful, Texas, one final time before she dies. While Ludie is at work and Jessie Mae is at the drugstore, Carrie escapes to the bus station and befriends a young woman named Thelma. The new friends travel toward Bountiful together, but when Carrie arrives in nearby Harrison, Texas, she begins to learn that her beloved town isn’t the same as she remembered it. “I’ve never been more deeply moved by a theatrical production of any kind.” —Wall Street Journal. “…the rarest of theater experiences, an evening which will prove an indelible memory…Horton Foote has done, and done beautifully, the one thing it is important for a playwright to do. Join us for June First Friday Mary Lou and friends will offer a concert featuring classical and Broadway songs. Concert begins at 7pm in the ballroom. (Concert is free to attend but donations to the ballroom roof replacement are accepted) The mansion will be open for self-guided tours from 6pm-9pm. (FREE Admission) Trolley tours at 6pm and 7pm leaving from the front of the mansion. The trolley is free to ride and limited to 28 guests per tour (arrive early) The trolley is provided by the Broome County Arts Council, The Binghamton Economic Development Council, and the City of Binghamton.
