The East Aurora Art Society has generously sponsored the purchase of unfinished 6â barrels for a fundraiser in collaboration with the Friends of the Aurora Town Public Library. Each barrel will be hand-painted and embellished by a talented local artist. From June 2 through August 1, the barrels will be displayed at the Aurora Town Public Library on 550 Main Street. The community is invited to buy votes to judge and earn a chance to win their favorite barrels. One vote is $1.00, or 6 votes are $5.00. All proceeds will benefit the Library.Winners will be drawn at random on August 1 at 12:00 p.m. Votes will be tallied to determine which barrel placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.For more information, contact the Library at 652-4440.

Each barrel will be hand-painted and embellished by a talented local artist. From June 2 through August 1, the barrels will be displayed at the Aurora Town Public Library on 550 Main Street. The community is invited to buy votes to judge and earn a chance to win their favorite barrels. One vote is $1.00, or 6 votes are $5.00. The East Aurora Art Society has generously sponsored the purchase of unfinished 6â barrels for a fundraiser in collaboration with the Friends of the Aurora Town Public Library. Each barrel will be hand-painted and embellished by a talented local artist. From June 2 through August 1, the barrels will be displayed at the Aurora Town Public Library on 550 Main Street. The community is invited to buy votes to judge and earn a chance to win their favorite barrels. One vote is $1.00, or 6 votes are $5.00. Schobert, author of âHush the Cannonâs Roar - The Life and Times of Bennet Riley: Defender of Buffaloâ, will discuss the career and personal life of Major General Bennet C. Riley, who served in the U.S. Army for 40 years from the War of 1812 through the Mexican War and culminated with his serving as the last military governor of California during the famous âCalifornia Gold Rushâ. In the early 1840s, Riley was commanding officer of the Buffalo Barracks, an army post located on what is now the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site. The experience of Riley during his time here and his interactions with notable Buffalonians convinced him to return here after his military service was finished.
