The East Aurora Art Society has generously sponsored the purchase of unfinished 6â barrels for a fundraiser in collaboration with the Friends of the Aurora Town Public Library. Each barrel will be hand-painted and embellished by a talented local artist. From June 2 through August 1, the barrels will be displayed at the Aurora Town Public Library on 550 Main Street. The community is invited to buy votes to judge and earn a chance to win their favorite barrels. One vote is $1.00, or 6 votes are $5.00. All proceeds will benefit the Library.Winners will be drawn at random on August 1 at 12:00 p.m. Votes will be tallied to determine which barrel placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.For more information, contact the Library at 652-4440.

Dare to Repair it!The Dare to Repair Cafe is a community event where people can bring in broken items (lamps, small electronics, vacuums, toys, etc.) and have volunteer âfixersâ try to repair the item alongside them for free!Weâre reducing waste by connecting those with a need to those with the know-how. By saving people money, diverting usable items from landfills, and teaching basic repair skills, Dare to Repair is helping to build the circular economy.Current repair categories include: small appliances, lamps, electronics, bicycles, toys, vacuums, furniture, clothing, and textiles. Please no gas powered items, cellphones, or TVs. Note: Repairs are not guaranteed and all participants will be requires to sign a waiver. Not all fixers can make every event, so registering ahead of time helps ensure we've got someone who can fix your item. Replacement parts are limited, so bring 'em if you've got 'em. Each barrel will be hand-painted and embellished by a talented local artist. From June 2 through August 1, the barrels will be displayed at the Aurora Town Public Library on 550 Main Street. The community is invited to buy votes to judge and earn a chance to win their favorite barrels. One vote is $1.00, or 6 votes are $5.00.
