More information about the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program is on the district website here. The UPK program is free, and all children living within the Schodack Central School District who will be age 4 on or before December 1, 2026, are eligible to apply.   Pre-Kindergarten Lottery, 2026–27 School Year Universal Pre-Kindergarten lottery registration opens Monday, March 16, 2026, for the 2026–27 school year. Lottery registrations are due Friday, April 10, 2026. Names will be randomly drawn on Monday, April 13, 2026. Story Place Preschool, Inc. will contact all families shortly after the lottery drawing, regardless of whether their child's name is selected. How to Register Starting March 16, call (518) 477-7103 to make a registration appointment with Michele Rose at Story Place Preschool, Inc. You can also email her ([email protected]). Athletics Registration Spring 2026 Athletics Registration is open for students in grades 7–12 from Monday, February 9–Monday, March 9, 2026. All athletics registration is done through ParentSquare, and a message with registration forms was sent to all grades 7–12 families on February 9. You can find the message here (you will be redirected from the district website to ParentSquare). Updated Sports Physicals No student will be permitted to play or try out with an expired physical, which is valid for 12 continuous months. If your student's last physical was before March 2025, please contact your pediatrician as soon as possible to schedule one. Season Start Dates JV/Varsity Sports: Monday, March 9 Modified Sports: Monday, March 23 Meet the Coaches/Chemical Health Night The Maple Hill Athletics Department holds a Meet the Coaches/Chemical Health Night before each season. Attendance is required for all student-athletes participating in the Spring 2026 Season. It will start at 6:00 PM at Maple Hill on Wednesday, March 4. Athletic Placement Process (APP) Testing 7th and 8th-grade students who wish to participate in a sport at the JV or Varsity level must first complete the Athletic Placement Process (APP) to ensure their safety. Students may participate in APP testing based on coach recommendations on Tuesday, March 3, at 2:00 PM in the Maple Hill Gym. Questions? The Castleton Elementary PTO's STEM Fair returns Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 6:30–7:30 PM in the CES Large Gym! The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Fair is a chance for any CES student to make and share a project with the school community! Families and friends are welcome to work together on projects. Projects can range from posters to hands-on experiments or demonstrations - get creative! This is not a competitive event, but an opportunity to explore, learn and have fun. There are no judges and projects are not graded or awarded. Even if your student does not want to participate, everyone is invited to attend and see the great projects on display!
