We're joining with our sister chapter, Bedford Audubon, to monitor the winter roosts of bald eagles on the Hudson shore. We start 1.5 hrs before dusk at the Cortlandt Waterfront Park in Verplank (see link above) to count and age the eagles coming to roost on the north side of George's Island and across the river at Stony Point. You won't want to miss this day-long celebration of the return of the Bald Eagle to our area. Check the Teatown website for details, especially for advance registration needed for special events: https://www.teatown.org/events/eaglefest.   Saw Mill River Audubon typically supports this event by providing volunteers at eagle viewing spots along the  Hudson River -- Croton boat ramp and George's Island -- where we help underwrite the cost of warming tents, leading bird walks inside Croton Point Park, and by staffing an info table inside the big event tent at Croton Point and also by offering a raptor ID class there.  Come see us at EagleFest!

Saw Mill River Audubon volunteers will, once again, be staffing a Project Feeder Watch gathering every Sunday, 9:30 am to 12 noon, at the Croton Point Park Nature Center.  SMRA will be providing the bird seed as well!  Stop by anytime to assist with this citizen science project that IDs and counts birds visiting bird feeders.  (Learn more about this international project that you can also do at your feeders by visiting www.feederwatch.org.) Hot beverages and probably even some light refreshments available. Friendly and casual way to learn more about our local birds and meet up with people from Saw Mill River Audubon. All are welcome and no registration needed!
