Princess Peigh’s Sword Fighting Tea Party Tuesday, March 24 6:30-7:30pm Join The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes (The ARTS Council) as we present Princess Peigh and her Sword Fighting Tea Party on Tuesday, March 24, from 6:30-7:30pm at The ARTS Council, 79 W Market St, Corning, NY. Not your typical princess tea party, Princess Preigh brings an interactive blend of comedy, magic, and sword-fighting to her performance. Help the princess solve the mystery of a legendary cheese thief, and perhaps you’ll become a defender of the realm. This show is for children ages 4-10 and for those who are young at heart. Don’t worry, parents, all sword fights will be with foam swords and will be highly supervised. Costumes are highly encouraged! Come dressed as a jester, a knight, a prince or princess, or whatever strikes your fancy. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. This performance is free and open to the public. Questions? Poets In Play All Day Celebrate National Poetry Month – Poetry, Potluck, and Camaraderie! Saturday, April 18, 10am – 5pm The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes (The ARTS Council) and FootHills Publishing are thrilled to present Poets In Play All Day, a full day of poetry in celebration of National Poetry Month. Join in at The ARTS Council, 79 W Market St in Corning, NY. Featuring Adventures in Japan, Casey Winston and Michael Czarnecki will host the day’s program. Enjoy poetry readings from Bart White, Michael Czarnecki, and our special guest, Japanese Tanka Poet Mariko Kitakuboa. Open readings, food, and conversation will be abundant. A Tanka Poem Fusion Workshop and performance will be facilitated by Craig Czury. A potluck lunch is planned, so bring along some light food to share if you are able. Doors open at 6:00 pm. After light hors d’oeuvres and a buffet dinner presented by Cady Estates Catering, our auctioneer will take the stage and help guests win their favorite desserts. Desserts provided by many local bakers and bakeries.   “Some desserts are shared on the spot with tablemates,” said Potter’s Hands Foundation Executive Director Deb Kuehner. “Others are taken home to enjoy another day. Regardless of where or when they are eaten, every delicious morsel helps a woman who has survived trafficking to heal, to know that she is loved and valued, and to move forward in a positive way.
