GARNER Arts Center is pleased to present this new series by abstract painter, Edward M. O’Hara for a solo exhibition in its Ned Harris Gallery at Building 35. By using the earth as his brush, O’Hara’s new series breaks free from studio restraints while capturing the beauty, motion and ephemeral fragility of nature. The artist creates these works in the fields of his farm in Highland NY. After applying paint directly to the wind-blown grasses, he repeatedly presses paper with his hands and feet onto the grassy surfaces. When the paper is peeled away, bold, energetic, fractal patterns are revealed, patterns that are mirrored throughout nature - in ocean waves, sand dunes, and wispy clouds. For O’Hara, the process feels raw, intimate, honest and connects him to the universe in ways he never anticipated.Gallery Hours:Fridays: 2-5pmSaturdays & Sundays: 1-5pm

Franc Palaia’s Urban Archaeology is an expansive exhibition that transforms the cavernous Building 35 Main Gallery at GARNER Arts Center into an archaeological site. Mr. Palaia is a master of visual deception. His mixed media paintings, frescoes, photographs, and sculptures look like they have been unearthed from abandoned underground urban landfills of the future. Upon entering the space, the viewer is amazed at how the massive archeological fragments appear to be broken life-sized concrete walls, crumbling rubble, and pigmented fragments of modern-day cement structures, despite not being what they see.Gallery Hours:Fridays: 2-5pmSaturdays & Sundays: 1-5pm

Born in New York and raised in Dallas, Georgia, Del-Marie Forbes draws inspiration from her late mother playing 90s RNB while cleaning, growing up in a southern church choir , her Jamaican heritage, 70s soul that she discovered at 18, and more. She has placed in multiple monthly poetry slams and considers poetry her "therapy before her therapy". She finds herself performing at open mics in NYC and Rockland County, including Studio 101. She now hosts wellness events for artists of every medium. She's had her first feature show in Brooklyn at One Love One Mic September 2023, performed at Piano's, Pink Frog Cafe, and performed at the Delancey with her fellow bandmates called WAVE by WAVE. She is now an honors student at Rockland Community College. She is also a former mentee for the Arts Council Of Rockland Mentorship Program. Del-Marie hopes to continue to network and become well known in the industry: whether it's through music, songwriting, poetry, or dance.Gumpy: Gumpy is a hip-hop artist with influences spanning the genre's finest. Gumpy creates a sonic journey like no other with his storytelling prowess, the innovative sounds, introspective depth, and lyrical gift. Born and raised in Maryland, Gumpy developed an early passion for music from his family and other artists, using the art of poetry to convey personal experiences and societal commentary through music. The All Ways Writing Circle offers time, space, community, and inspiration to get some writing done. This is for anyone who wants to write—in any genre—and would benefit from dedicated time. Facilitated by Lily Greenberg, participants will be offered a prompt, approximately 45 minutes to write, then a chance to share their work in a warm and supportive group setting. No experience needed, all genres welcome. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Admission is $12.Participants are encouraged to register on Eventbrite.
