Join us and our partner, Albany Obedience Club, as we host the AKC Scent Trials at the Museum. Many different breeds of dogs will be competing with their owners during this event. The dogs will be testing their ability to find designated scents inside and outside of the Museum building.This event is included with regular admission to FASNY. Reservations are not required for this event.PLEASE NOTE: ONLY CANINES REGISTERED FOR THIS EVENT WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS. Additionally, some galleries will be closed to accommodate these trials, but children’s activities, like discovery trucks and the Discovery Room will be open. The Museum will be open to the public, and visitors can watch portions of the trials for free with their paid admission. If you are a dog lover, this is certainly a rare treat, but if you are not canine inclined, or if you have children that are fearful of dogs, this is not a good weekend for you to visit the Museum. The workshop begins with a guided walk through the farm to gather seasonal botanicals, followed by a visit to the dye garden to harvest flowers. Back in the studio, you’ll transform your collected plants into a range of natural inks to take home. The day includes a farm-to-table lunch enjoyed outdoors in the fields. So far, the event will include a mechanical bull, partner & line-dancing lessons with Copperhead Meg & Tori Tornado, drag performances by Cowboy Lou and the region’s newest creative collective Freak Show Rodeo. Also on tap will be Go-Go Ranch Dancers, queer country DJs, a big seated fire pit, a beer and wine saloon, and a delicious menu of options from Aloha Tacos in a fabulous rodeo setting upstate at Taconic Ridge Farm in Columbia County, NY.
