Join your neighbors in Danby for hyper-local networking, conversation, and advocacy at Danby Town Hall.  Community Conversations serves as a forum for the Tompkins Chamber and Visit Ithaca to engage leaders of businesses and organizations in different localities within Tompkins County and allow us to better understand and support the unique needs of each community. All business owners, non-profit leaders, and government officials are invited to attend. Participate in a facilitated discussion about the strengths and challenges of businesses and organizations in Danby.  Network with other business, nonprofit, and community leaders. Explore highlights of the Tompkins Chamber & Visit Ithaca's programs of work and relevant opportunities for your community. Join the Tompkins Chamber as we present the New York State guidelines for sexual harassment prevention in the workplace. New York State law requires that employers provide a sexual harassment prevention policy and training on an annual basis to all employees, volunteers, and board members, and encourages training of new employees as soon as possible, noting that employers may be liable for the actions of employees immediately upon hire. This 1.5 hour NYS Compliant Sexual Harassment Prevention Training will include: An explanation of sexual harassment consistent with New York State guidance; Examples of unlawful sexual harassment; Information regarding federal/state law on sexual harassment and remedies available to victims; Information regarding employee rights of redress and available forums for adjudicating complaints; and Address supervisor conduct & responsibilities. The training will conclude with a Q&A for all attendees. The Tompkins Chamber is proud to host a DEI: Brave Space session, "Accessibility and Inclusion for Business Owners" presented by the Finger Lakes Independence Center Join the Finger Lakes Independence Center’s Jeff Boles and Andrea Champlin for practical tips on how to increase accessibility and inclusion at your place of business. The training session will cover a brief overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), your responsibilities as a business owner, cost-effective tips and tricks, and guidance for increasing inclusion. Attendees will also receive a resource list for additional guidance and support. Finger Lakes Independence Center (FLIC) Finger Lakes Independence Center (FLIC) is dedicated to supporting persons with disabilities of any age to live as independently as possible for as long as possible. They offer the borrowing of assistive devices and equipment, information and referral, peer counseling, benefits advisement, personal assistant programs, employment assistance, student transition services, and so much more. Please join the Tompkins Chamber and the Downtown Ithaca Alliance in support of celebrating the Community Foundation's 25th Anniversary as well as the exciting unveiling of a new mural done by the talented Ithaca Murals, celebrating generosity and philanthropy. Located on the eastern side of the building at 200 E. Buffalo Street.  The Roots of Generosity mural, designed and created in partnership with Ithaca Murals and local muralist Hugo Medina, is the Community Foundation’s gift to everyone on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. This mural celebrates the spirit of community and the power of generosity, honoring a vision where everyone has resource and opportunity to shape their own future. The mural uplifts shared responsibility—recognizing the importance of both giving and receiving, and the deep care that comes from supporting one another. The mural captures the imagination of kids who pass by each day to the preschool next door while inspiring adults with a message of collective care and possibility.
