Join Mohonk Preserve staff on a slow-paced hike exploring the natural wonders of the Shawangunk Ridge. In May, migratory birds return to the Hudson Valley on their way to their breeding grounds. Come along to spot a few warblers, meadowlarks, bluebirds, red-winged blackbirds and more. This is a free program for members ages 8 to adult and children must always be accompanied by a registered adult. Nonmembers pay the $15 day use fee at the trailhead; children under the age of 16 are free. Space is limited and registration is required.

You are never too old to learn new things! Join Mohonk Preserve Education Staff for a series of workshops for adults ages 18+. Participants will dive deeper into the natural history of the Gunks in these seasonal workshops. This spring’s theme is Aquatic Macroinvertebrates. Spend the morning stream-side scooping for tiny invertebrates that live in the water. We will safely collect the creatures, identify and learn about their characteristics, and learn how to use them as bioindicators of stream health. Space is limited and registration is required. Cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members.

This year, in preparation for our 150th Anniversary celebration in 2026, the Children’s Home of Kingston (CHK) is hosting a Benefit Concert on May 16, 2025, at M. Clifford Miller Middle School, located at 65 Fording Place Road, Lake Katrine, NY 12449. The evening will feature performances by MacCana, The T McCann Band, and Irish Step Dancers. Doors open at 6:00pm and the show is from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. MacCana is an old-meets-new Celtic rock band. The T McCann Band offers an eclectic and fresh take on traditional Celtic music. Noted for its complex foot movements, the Irish Step Dancers will both entertain and mesmerize. CHK’s mission is to provide a structured environment that helps boys explore challenging behaviors, learn positive ways of relating to their families and communities, and prepare for future careers. We emphasize family support to facilitate a return home as soon as appropriate, while fostering a well-balanced community that encourages positive decision-making. We're offering two opportunities to support the youth we serve at The Children’s Home of Kingston, and would greatly appreciate your consideration and support.
