There is one mandatory rehearsal on Saturday Aug 2nd from 10 am - 2 pm. On August 27 and September 4th, 1949, violence broke out at two concerts held outside Peekskill, NY, headlined by black singer, actor, and activist Paul Robeson. Citizens of Peekskill, galvanized by racist and anti-Semitic sentiments and disdain for Robeson’s left-wing views and campaign for civil rights, started two riots that resulted in hundreds of injuries, made national news, and unofficially marked the beginning of the McCarthy era, which would nearly erase Robeson from the public consciousness. Who was he? What did he do? What did he stand for? Rehearsal for the cast of The Addams Family (Kids version)! Rehearsals begin June 2nd and the performances will be on August 8th and 9th. This is a joint program for patrons of Mahopac and Kent Public Libraries.  Regular rehearsal dates will be Mondays, June 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 as well as Mondays in July 7, 14, 21, 28. There is one mandatory rehearsal on Saturday Aug 2nd from 10 am - 2 pm. Welcome to the Filmmaking Club! This 4-part program is designed for teens interested in acting and/or learning how to make their own movies. In this first session, teens will learn about different filmmaking techniques, filming equipment, and other information that goes into making a great movie all from local cinematographer, Johnny Sousa! After the first session, teens will group up and make films to share with the class and get critiques from their peers. Use of a cellphone is encouraged, as most films will be filmed this way.
