The Haverstraw Brick Museum is proud to announce the upcoming exhibition highlighting the life of Rockland's very own Mary Mowbray-Clarke, and her magnum opus: Dutch Gardens in New City. A pioneer in every sense of the word, Mary Mowbray-Clarke’s story and contributions to the fields of preservation, art education, and landscape architecture continue to have a lasting impact today.  As the mother of the Modern Arts Movement, she organized art exhibitions, ran an influential bookstore, and became the only known woman foreman of a WPA project. Opening in March, this exhibition would not be possible without the generous donations of the Williamson Family, the Estate of Janet Newman, and a loan of materials from Justin Duerr.

This exhibition tells the remarkable stories of the Suffragist Caroline Lexow of Nyack and the Abolitionist Sojourner Truth. Our Curators - Katharine Fulmor and Theresa Bergen are so happy to see their work come to life and tell such an important story to our community.Our Visitors - stunned by its beauty. HSN thanks our curators for sharing their historic photographs, documents and more; and so appreciate the magnificent work Harrington Press brought to each and every piece. The Content -"Such a special insight into Caroline, Women's Rights and Nyack - So relevant today" (Kim Cross_The Opportunity - To share a complex history, both local and national. Barely touched in American History and an inspiration for all ages.The exhibition is open Saturday in March, 1-4 pm, at the Historical Society of the Nyacks Museum, 50 Piermont Avenue, Nyack, right behind NyackLibrary. If Saturday afternoons areinconvenient, we are glad to work out a mutual time for small groups. 1776/1976  FROM DEMOCRACY TO DISCO Orangetown and the Bicentennial. In 1976 the Town of Orangetown had embraced the call to celebrate the Revolution. Discover our stand-out moments through the lens of the 1970s, a tumultuous time in our nation’s history. On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the museum will reopen this special exhibition marking the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the Revolutionary War. The exhibition will be open Tuesday & Friday, 10 – 2 pm, Sundays, 1-4 pm at the DePew House. Admission is free; donations accepted.
