US Life Saving Service Activities11 am to 1 pm: Kick off our celebration of 200 years of the original Fire Island Lighthouse by reenacting a day in the life of a US Life Saving Service member. Learn what it takes to be a life saver through hands-on activities. Two Anniversaries, One Story (Part 2)1 pm: Join us for Part 2 where actor Joseph Smith portrays the newly appointed first General Superintendent of the Light-House Establishment in 1820 who corresponds with the NY Customs House Jonathan Thompson to build the 1826 Fire Island Lighthouse. Just Sixties Band2 pm to 4 pm: End the day off with some rocking music from Just Sixties Band as they perform songs from the 60’s era on the terrace. Bring a lawn chair.

Fire Island Lighthouse. Parking is available at Robert Moses State Park Field 5. Walk east 0.6 miles on boardwalk to the Lighthouse.

Visitors will see objects on display from all eras of the Estate's history, from the colonial period until the 20th century.The Old Mastic House will be open for exhibit viewing Wednesday-Sunday from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM. Visitors interested in seeing the Old Mastic House exhibit should check in with staff at the house’s front porch upon their arrival to arrange an entry time. Slots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. No visitors will be admitted to the exhibit past 4:30 PM.

Lighthouse: Evening Tower Tour

Watch the sunset from a new perspective, at the top of the Fire Island Lighthouse. Bring a flashlight for your walk back to the parking field. $15 for FILPS members/$25 for non-members. Reservations Required. Sunset 6:45 pm.
