From making a moon phase model (with cookies!) to designing your own planet, each 30-minute session explores stars, planets, astronauts, and more. This summer, the Library will host a Teen Talk Summer Series from Hope's Door, to raise awareness about teen dating violence.Hope’s Door is a non-profit that seeks to end domestic violence and to empower victims to achieve safety, independence, and healing from the trauma of abuse. We will dive into information about teen dating violence, visit popular “toxic” celebrity relationships, and discuss Netflix dramas and documentaries depicting domestic violence. Join us for conversations about the things we see and experience, and to learn how we can become advocates for ourselves and each other.This program will take place over the course of four sessions, and it is recommended (but not required) that you attend all four. This is a drop-in program and registration is not required.Hope’s Door prevents, responds to, and partners to end domestic and intimate partner violence and other forms of abuse. We provide a 24/7/365 crisis, support and information hotline (the gateway to all our services) as well as emergency shelter to ensure individuals are safe from the threat of violence. Engaging in domestic violence education and training in schools and community centers throughout Westchester County, Hope’s Door offers counseling, advocacy and legal services for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. All of our services are provided free of charge to victims and survivors; we rely on the generosity of private and corporate donors as well as federal, state and county grants.
