Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an important first step in making college more affordable. At the workshops, the Financial Services team from Dutchess Community College will be on hand to help you and your family complete the application. A Spanish translator will also be available at all workshops. You do not need to be attending DCC to participate. Even if you believe your family may not qualify for financial aid, you should still complete the FAFSA since many colleges use it to determine eligibility for other forms of financial assistance.Action Needed Before the Workshop: To save time at the workshop, you and your parent/guardian should create an FSA ID now. This ID is your electronic signature for the FAFSA and is required to submit your application. You can create your FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov. Both the student and one parent/guardian will need to create their own FSA IDs.What to Bring:Your fully charged Chromebook.Your FSA ID and your parent/guardian’s FSA ID (create at fsaid.ed.gov if you haven’t already).Social Security Numbers for both you and your parent/guardian (if applicable).2024 Tax Returns and W-2 forms for both the student and parent/guardian.For undocumented students who meet the eligibility requirements, we will also provide assistance with the New York State DREAM Act, which offers financial aid for college.
