Join ReWild and Hallockville Museum Farm for a Dye Pot Demonstration. August 22nd 10am to 2pm. This is a free workshop however space is limited.  Sara Jones, of  Plants 2 Dye 4, will guide you through a look at local plants to see how they can be used to add a pop of color to natural fibers. We will explore the whole process from preparing fibers to accept natural dyes to colorful creation. Join Basket Weaver Barbara Blossey-Chuvalas, August 29th 10am – 3pm, in the Hudson-Sydlowski House here at Hallockville Museum Farm. Golden in reed used in pattern and golden in leather handles set in rim. This tall basket 14 – 17 inches will become your best friend. 6 sizes of reed will be used. This will need some home work. Experience needed. Please bring a $55 materials fee to be given to the instructor on arrival. Students will also need to bring: Scissors, a small flat head screwdriver, a package of Clothes pins, a pencil, ruler, and a spray bottle. Visitors can explore historic buildings and exhibits, enjoy folk arts and craft demonstrations, browse handcrafted goods from local vendors, and take part in hands-on activities for children and adults alike.Our neighbors at the Long Island Antique Power Association offer blacksmithing and sawmill demonstrations, a train ride for children and more. The Country Fair offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, and traditions of rural Long Island life while supporting Hallockville Museum Farm’s mission to preserve and share the region’s farming history.
