Did you know that 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the construction of Fort Schuyler on the Oneida Carry? In June, the fort was ordered to be rebuilt to defend the Mohawk Valley and the new United States.Silversmiths, barrel makers, blacksmiths, surgeons, musicians and other tradesmen will demonstrate their crafts inside the fort from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.Hands on experiences, appropriate for all ages, will show people how the past is recreated in present day by referencing artifacts preserved in the historic record.

After three long weeks, the British and their allies abandoned their attack on Fort Schuyler/Stanwix, leaving the American forces within as the victors. However, even with the immediate threat removed, the Continental Army throughout New York was still under British threat. Programs throughout the day will focus on what happened as the British retreated, but didn't surrender. A special flag ceremony at 3 pm will mark the end of the Siege.
