Dunn, NC – October 2025 – The Dunn community will soon celebrate the return of one of its own, as native son Bill McNair proudly announces the release of his inspiring new memoir, Power Forward: From Redbone to the World Stage – The Story of How Basketball Changed My Life. The book officially launches on October 3, 2025, and McNair will host a special book signing event at Broad Street Deli & Market in Dunn on November 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. McNair’s story is deeply connected to Dunn, where his journey began on neighborhood courts and in the close-knit community that shaped his values of faith, family, and perseverance. His experiences in Dunn provided the foundation for his success as a standout athlete at Georgia Southern University, a member of the world-champion 3-on-3 Team Atlanta, and later, as a respected parks and recreation professional and longtime basketball official across Georgia and the Southeast. “Dunn will always be home for me,” McNair said. “No matter where life has taken me, the lessons I learned here, the people who encouraged me, and the pride of calling Dunn my hometown have carried me forward. I am honored to return to share my story with the very community that gave me my start.” Power Forward is more than a sports memoir—it is a reflection on resilience, leadership, and the importance of community. McNair’s journey from Dunn to the world stage illustrates how the support of a hometown can inspire lifelong achievement. The Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce, along with local businesses and community leaders, is invited to join in celebrating this milestone for one of Dunn’s own.
