A new art lesson is presented each month in a 2-hour session. The lesson provides a bit of relaxation and the opportunity to have a stress-free creative learning experience. All supplies are provided. These creative respite sessions, specifically intended for caregivers who are caring for a loved one(s) with Dementia, are free of charge but registration is required. The lesson for June is Intuitive Play on Tissue Paper. This fun mixed media lesson involves layers of intuitive fun using tissue paper, watercolor and markers.  Be prepared to relax and enjoy the process! Hope to see you! June 2025 Dates/Times: Sat. Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc is a statewide non-profit, federally funded law firm that provides free legal services to low-income individuals and senior citizens on a variety of non-criminal legal issues.  At the senior centers they can help prepare Simple Wills and other advance directives - Living Wills, Powers of Attorney and Health Care Powers of Attorney.  During the first hour, 10 – 11 am, there will be a presentation on "Consumer Protection Law" when a Legal Aid attorney will address laws designed to protect you and your loved ones from: scams, identity theft, managing credit, unfair debt collection and elder abuse.  After each presentation, the attorney will be available for questions and applications for individual assistance. If you cannot attend a workshop or have an urgent matter, call Melany Earnhardt, Esq. to schedule an appointment at Legal Aid of North Carolina, 919-533-2015.

The Little Market, Hillsborough’s new satellite gallery by the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts, is proud to present Fragile Light, an exhibition of works by photographer Holden Richards and painter/printmaker Jessica Poland. The opening reception will be held Friday, June 27th from 6-9pm. A native North Carolinian, Holden Richards works exclusively with large format film cameras, many over a century old. His images—captured along the creeks and rivers of Orange and Durham counties—are printed using historic processes such as Kallitype and salt printing. With a meditative eye and a deep reverence for the natural world, Richards’ work offers viewers an intimate and timeless connection to place. Jessica Poland uses monoprinting and casein painting to explore the beauty and fragility of the environment. Her luminous works are inspired by memories of nature in her native Indiana and decades spent in North Carolina’s Piedmont. Mysterious marks, textured surfaces, and the interplay of light and color speak to her fascination with the living world and our relationship to it. Together, Richards and Poland invite visitors to slow down, look closely, and rediscover the subtle landmarks that shape our sense of place. The Little Market is located at 118 N. Churton Street within Hillsborough Real Estate Group, and is open Fridays 2-6pm, Saturdays 12–4pm, and Last Fridays 6-9pm. Fragile Light will be on view from June 19th through August 19th, 2025.
