Plan on attending the Seventh Annual Economic Summit! Paul Fain is a journalist focused on connections between education and work. He writes The Job, a newsletter that explores those issues, and helps edit a related weekly publication, Work Shift, which he co-founded. Fain also hosts The Cusp, a podcast on AI?s impacts on jobs and education. From 2011 to 2020, Fain was a reporter and editor at Inside Higher Ed. He oversaw the news outlet?s coverage of low-income students, college completion, community colleges, and federal policy. Prior to IHE, Fain was a senior reporter at The Chronicle of Higher Education, where he covered money and management. Some of what will be discussed by Paul Fain include: * AI and jobs: The latest on the tech's development and what experts predict about its impact on jobs. * How the fast-moving technological revolution of AI is affecting students and recent graduates. * What we don't know about AI and the labor market. * Update on the federal policy landscape, focusing on industrial policy and workforce development.  * Shifts in post-secondary education -- the end of 'college for all' and the rise of short-term credentials. * Economic mobility and workforce models to watch at the state and regional levels, particularly education and training paths for non-degree workers. * Apprenticeship -- can it make a real difference in this country?

Join Val's Cookie Corner for a delightful sugar cookie decorating class!   Immerse yourself in a hands-on experience where you'll unleash your creativity and transform six delicious vanilla-almond sugar cookies into edible masterpieces. Our classes are designed for participants aged 12 and up, making it a perfect activity for individuals, friends, or families. (If you have a child younger than 12 that you feel can handle a 2 hour class, they're more than welcome to sign up as long as a parent is signed up as well. Parent may need to help the child with cutting piping bags.)   Class Details: Date: Wednesday, July 23 Time: 7pm-9pm Location: Unplugged Brewery Co. (201 E. Bridge St, Elyria, OH 44035) Cost: $55 per participant Last Day to Register: July 17   During this two-hour in-person class, you'll receive expert guidance on various decorating techniques and tips to bring your cookie visions to life. The class fee is $55 per person, and we provide all the necessary materials, including the cookies, icing, and a bakery box to safely transport your sweet creations home.   **Note that each student will receive one drink ticket, which is good for one beer, seltzer, soda, or coffee. Additional drinks can be purchased.   Please note: Attendees aged 12 to 15 must be accompanied by someone 16 or older. Secure your spots early since space is limited! The Lorain County Chamber of Commerce invites you to attend the New Teachers luncheon on Friday, August 8th, 2025. This luncheon will give you an opportunity to welcome our new teachers and to express your support of a skilled, globally competitive and highly productive workforce for Lorain County. The Hope for B.E.S.T. (Be the End to Silent Thoughts) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing mental health awareness programs, resources, and tools to the students in our local community.  For the past three years, we have held an annual K-9 Walk that has raised over $30,000. This year, we are holding The Hope for B.E.S.T. "Fest" in Avon, Ohio. There will be Food Trucks, DJ, Carnival Games and Activities for the kids, Chinese Raffles, and Silent Auctions. A fun Family Event for Everyone and Pet Friendly! Come join us in helping to make an impact in the growing epidemic of mental health issues among our youth!
