Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) - Lima Monday, Nov 3, 2025 to Friday, Nov 7, 2025 REGISTER NOW 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. each day Starting at: $1,799.00 - a $700 discount for safety council members Non-Safety Council members: $2,499.00 The COSS training is returning again this year to provide training to Lima area employees to avoid the expense of out-of-town travel for a week. In today's fast-paced and diverse workplace, the need for qualified people in the field who are trained in the basic essentials of safety and health, leadership, communication, and regulatory requirements is great. The Safety Council's COSS program is a solution to the increasing need for qualified safety professionals. After successfully completing the COSS Course, you will be designated as a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS). A COSS is a person in the safety and health field that coordinates the successful implementation of corporate safety and health plans, coordinates, and maybe even conducts safety and health training, and provides support to safety and training managers. What can I expect to experience when taking the COSS course? ► COSS is a highly intensive, highly interactive course that focuses on providing individuals who are responsible for safety, with the tools and techniques they need to make safety work for them. ► The COSS program consists of 40 hours of hands-on, face-to-face learning, which is delivered by an OSHA 500 and 501 qualified safety instructor. Case studies and workshops are used extensively to bring learning objectives into focus. ► Guest speakers from areas such as OSHA and other governmental agencies are used to enhance the learning experience. ► Students are scored on their daily quizzes, practical reviews, their 10-minute safety presentation that they develop and present to the class, and a comprehensive final exam. All of these things allow the students to demonstrate their competency in the class. Cost: Members $1,799.00 per person Non-Members $2,499.00 per person If your company has 5 or more employees that need training, call us and we can come to your facility. Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance and no-shows are responsible for the full registration fees. Substitutions may be made at any time. Non-members must prepay to register. She’ll cover key warning signs, community impact, and resources available to support victims and raise awareness. The Ohio BWC Representative will be present to give BWC updates, deadlines, and answer any member questions in person after the meeting. This is our 5th monthly meeting for FY26. This meeting entitles rebate-eligible safety council members to one safety council attendance credit towards a monthly meeting. 10 meetings are required for the year. Our 50/50 Raffle Proceeds will benefit Saving Grace Farm Ministry and the Allen Lima Leadership Teddy Bear program. 2025–2026 Safety Council Rebate Program Guidelines To qualify for the BWC Safety Council Rebate, employers must: ✅ Attend at least 10 in-person safety council meetings Between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. ✅ Earn up to 4 additional credits through the following optional activities: Training Credits (Max 2 credits): Attend virtual or in-person training, such as: BWC safety training courses (excluding online e-courses or webinars) In-person safety training from external sources (e.g., industry associations, third-party administrators) that is pre-approved by BWC. Onsite Consultation (Max 2 credits): Schedule a Comprehensive Onsite Consultation with a BWC Field Safety Services Consultant. This must include: A full hazard assessment A claims review (This visit is limited to once every 3 years) Additional Program Notes: The maximum rebate amount is $5,000 per policy per year. Employers must: Be current on all BWC payments Have no more than 40 cumulative days of lapsed coverage in the past 12 months Report actual payroll on time for the prior policy year Pay any outstanding premiums following reconciliation Exclusions: Self-insuring employers and state agencies are not eligible Restrictions apply to professional employer organizations (PEOs) and their clients Attendance rules: A representative may only earn credit for one BWC policy number per event Monthly meetings only count toward credit if the employer is enrolled in that specific safety council This event is open to members of the West Central Ohio Safety Council and the public.
