This is the mandatory training session for the laser engraver in the Geauga County Public Library’s Maker Space. Learn how to engrave and cut flat and cylindrical objects like a drinking glass so that you can create your own one-of-a-kind items. Our standard training session includes a presentation, training videos and Q & A; following that training, experience a hands-on demonstration of the machines in action. The laser engraver can engrave wood, metal, plastic, glass, leather, and cardboard. You can also cut certain materials with the laser.All ages welcome to attend the training session. Children under 15 need a guardian with them to use the laser engraver. The guardian must also attend this training before helping a minor with the engraver. If you will require assistance, the library recommends finding your own assistant, who must also attend mandatory training before working in the Maker Space. Must have an active Clevnet or Geauga County Public Library card to sign the user agreement at the end of the session. Learn how to use the Digital Legacy Lab to preserve your memories or start your next creative project. The Digital Legacy Lab is a free do-it-yourself space to convert your physical materials to digital files, preserving your important documents and memories for the future. Each Digital Legacy Lab is comprised of equipment and software for digitization projects, including 8mm and Super8 film scanners, photo and document scanners, vinyl record and cassette recorders, microphones, and VHS tapes. Digital Legacy Lab Orientations are available at least once a month to provide an introduction to the Digital Legacy Lab’s equipment and the process of digitization. The orientation does not include hands-on training with any equipment, and is not mandatory to use the Digital Legacy Lab. You must sign the Digital Legacy Lab User Agreement before using the Digital Legacy Labs. Additional individual support is available during Consultation Hours with the Digitization Specialist.Please see the link below to access the written tutorials and Digital Legacy Lab procedures, which are helpful guides to get you started.Registration is required.

This is the mandatory training session for the direct-to-garment printer in the Geauga County Public Library Maker Space. The training session includes a presentation, training videos and Q & A; live demonstration of the machines is not included. Print designs directly on to T-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, aprons, socks, cotton fabric and more. Learn the basic steps to use the sublimation printer so that you can create your own one-of-a-kind items. All ages welcome to attend the training session. Children under 12 need a guardian with them to use the sublimation printer. The guardian must also attend this training before helping a minor with the machine. If you will require assistance, the library recommends finding your own assistant, who must also attend mandatory training before working in the Maker Space. Must have an active Clevnet or Geauga County Public Library card to sign the user agreement at the end of the session.
