Walk On!, the library’s Thursday morning walking group, is opening the group to new members for their outings. The group assembles at 10:15am at the library to carpool to a different walking area each week or meets at another assembly point shared in advance by email walks last about an hour. The group has explored in-town walks, but also ventured to the Frances Shrader Old Growth Trail, the Jim Hunt Birding Loop, and several segments of the Rogue River Walk on Jerry’s Flat Road. Walks are casually paced (slow enough to pick up litter) and not too strenuous. Join us to sip some delicious teas from around the world! Whether you’re a seasoned tea drinker, are looking for a new hobby, or wish to reduce your caffeine intake, this gathering is for you. Hello, I’m Kai, and I was raised on Lipton tea bags, as many are. About 20 years ago I came across a Chinese black tea called Tippy South Cloud, and it was a revelation for my taste buds! I still drink that tea regularly, and over the years I’ve discovered many other favorites which I love sharing with others.In this mini-workshop, I will introduce you to my favorite black, green, oolong, white, and puer (fermented) teas. All are pure, whole leaf, unflavored, single-origin teas. We’ll experience a wide range of flavors that are coaxed from the tea plant (Camellia sinensis): sweet, earthy, grassy, fruity, chocolatey, malty, floral, and even creamy. I will show you some different ways of brewing tea, including Gong Fu, traditional to China. This method makes tea into a more interactive and mindful experience. I’ll also share info about where to buy quality tea, and will provide samples of tea for you to take home. Note: All teas we’ll be drinking contain varying amounts of caffeine. Preference will be given to people that haven’t previously attended a tea tasting.Please RSVP to attend, this event will fill up fast. Join us for connection, communication, and ways to care for and celebrate a woman’s ability to change and grow toward self-fulfillment in a warm and supportive environment. Come alone or bring a friend to the Woman’s Wellness Group the second Wednesday of the month from 2-3:30pm at Curry Public Library. Tea and hospitality provided. Snacks to share are welcome. The group is facilitated by Jana Rivers-Norton and is free and open to the public.
