30th Annual Scramble for Students Monday, August 18, 2025 Persimmon Country Club | Gresham, OR Join us for the 30th Annual Scramble for Students, benefiting the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation. This signature fundraising event helps fund vital educational programs and classroom grants across the district. Event Details: 📍 Persimmon Country Club – 500 SE Butler Rd, Gresham, OR 97080 ⏰ Two Shotgun Start Times Available – 8:00 AM or 2:00 PM (Max 72 golfers per time slot) Whether you're swinging for a cause or sponsoring a hole, your involvement makes a lasting impact. Sponsorship opportunities are available—choose from one of 12 options or work with us to create your own. Washington DC comes to Gresham This month our guest speaker is Chris Eyler Vice President, Congressional and Public Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Chris Eyler represents the U.S. Chamber throughout the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming and helps develop and implement the Chamber’s grassroots, legislative, and political activities in the area. He works closely with state and local chambers and members of Congress in his region to further the legislative priorities of the Chamber.

Explore the art of growing and creating Bonsai displays. Connect with nature and experience the stress-relieving benefits of this hobby. The workshop is 2 hours and a project is completed each month to take home. Each class is a different project.

As the sun gently sets, the park transforms into a sacred space of memory and reflection. Along the winding pathways, soft luminarias flicker like guiding stars, lighting the way for visitors as they walk together in quiet remembrance. The trees become living memorials—branches adorned with almost 300 photos of loved ones who have passed, each image telling a silent story of love, loss, and legacy. A gentle melody fills the air with acapella song care, where comforting songs offer space for healing and connection. Nearby, a walking labyrinth invites participants into a meditative journey, each step a moment of personal reflection or prayer. In another peaceful station, guests paint memorial stones, adding color and meaning to small tokens that honor those they miss. Children and adults alike participate, creating heartfelt tributes to place near trees or carry home as keepsakes. Veterans are honored with American flags placed beside photos and names, each paired with the branch of service they represented. In a solemn and moving moment, the VFW plays Taps, its haunting notes echoing through the park and touching every heart. A mobile library offers a curated selection of books on grief, healing, and remembrance—resources to support all ages through their journey of loss. Just steps away, the calming tones of a sound bath fill the air, offering deep relaxation and grounding. Throughout the evening, the park is a tapestry of shared sorrow and quiet celebration—a place where memories are honored, grief is witnessed, and community brings comfort.
