RSVP link coming soon! Forests in the U.S. and around the world are being devastated by the false solution of big industrial biomass energy, which also harms the health of human communities. This issue, which in the U.S. has mainly affected the Southeast, is now starting to affect us here on the West Coast as well. Join the National Call to Action to Break Big Biomass on Monday, April 7, at 5:00pm PST. This 90-minute online event on World Health Day will give clear guidance and important actions you can take to head off this growing threat. Biomass Basics: Presenters will explain what large-scale biomass energy is and who the key players are, and share an urgent call to action. Community Concerns: Hear directly from frontline voices. A panel will include community members from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, and California. Pollution and Public Health: Meet Dr. Erika Walker, the lead researcher from Brown University studying the health impacts of biomass pollution. Joining her will be Heather Hillaker, Senior Attorney with Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) who recently published a sobering report surveying five communities across four states living near biomass plants. Our Forests: Burning forests as fuel in power plants is not a climate solution. Learn about the forest, community health, and pollution hazards of biomass happening under the guise of clean energy. Take action to break big biomass.

REGISTER HERE   Join the Juniper Group Sierra Club for a weekend camping trip to the heart of the Ochoco National Forest. All are welcome! Hike and paddle on Walton Lake, or just relax and take it all in. On Saturday night we're planning a potluck dinner at the pavilion’s picnic tables with grilled salmon burgers and your dishes.
