Mount Aloysius College’s Baccalaureate Mass is a celebration which honors all graduates, their families, friends, and instructors. Its roots are in the medieval European custom of presenting the candidates for the degree of Bachelor with laurels during a public oration. The Baccalaureate Mass is a service of worship in celebration of and thanksgiving for lives dedicated to learning and wisdom and is open to all graduates no matter what their religious affiliation may be. Why should you attend? This Mass is a special way of giving thanks and asking for God’s blessing. It is a major accomplishment in your life and attending the Mass not only honors your personal achievement, but brings together the Mount Aloysius Community in celebration with you.

Pinning Ceremonies for Health Sciences MajorsThe pinning ceremony is an honored tradition which originated in the 1860s at the Nightingale School of Nursing in London, England. Having been recently awarded The Red Cross of St. George for her selfless service to injured and dying soldiers in the Crimean War, Florence Nightingale chose to extend this honor to her most outstanding graduates by presenting each of them with a medal of excellence. This tradition of pinning at Mount Aloysius College began with the nursing department and expanded to all allied health programs.

Get experience working creatively in a group by developing your creative writing skills through a variety of creative content exercises.Mount Aloysius College will host a Creative Writing Summer Camp for 20-25 local high school students in the newly remodeled Student Success Center & Learning Commons. The collaborative and imaginative two-day writing experience will provide participants with the opportunity to engage in team building, script writing, and creative content exercises in a writer’s room model. Mount Communications and English faculty will plan and oversee all exercises. The collaborative process will culminate in lessons in acting and table reading prior to a large group table read. Enhance your basketball skills with instruction by Mountie Basketball coaching staff and players!June 15-18, 2026, 9am to 3pm & June 19, 9am to 12:30pm The Mount Aloysius Girls Summer Basketball Camp is being held for girls, ages 7-16 years old. The camp will be held from June 15-19 from 9am-3pm, with camp ending early on Friday at 12:30 pm. During these hours, campers will be taught the fundamentals of basketball and will enhance their skill level, while also mixing in fun games and events. There will be different sections throughout the day that will allow them to grow as a player. Each camper will also be given a camp t-shirt. The camp will be led by the Mount Aloysius Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff, in addition to members of the current team. **Due to the camp running through lunch, campers will be responsible for providing their own lunch. June 16-17, 2026, 8am to 5pm Following a patient’s case through the healthcare system, campers will explore various professions and work hands-on with health science faculty in state-of-the-art labs.Here are the details: The camp is free for everyone!We can accommodate up to 60 campersFirst-come, first-served, but we’ll start a waiting list for all additional applicants after the camp is full. Please join us next year, or check out our other summer camps for 2026! Registration is FullFAQsWhat can I expect to do at the camp? You will be broken into groups of 10-11 students, and you will get to spend an hour and a half in each health care and science area over the two days. These areas include Biology, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Surgical Technology, and Ultrasonography.  You will get to learn about each profession and engage in hands-on activities, which will provide you with an experience within each profession. Who will I be interacting with at the camp? Aside from the other ten students in your group, you will get to interact with two faculty members from each department and two of our simulation staff.  Additionally, some departments will have current students participate in their sessions.  Finally, each group will have a college representative to help lead introductions and guide them from activity to activity. Where should I check-in in on campus? We will start and end our days in the Bertschi Center and Technology Commons (Letter K on the Campus Map). The most accessible places to park and walk to this building are Parking Lots 7, 8, and 6. How will the student groups be broken up? The groups will be randomly assigned before your arrival. What will the patient’s case be like? All of the departments have worked together to design a shared patient case that will allow you to experience how each discipline contributes to the patient’s care.   The teams will work together to collect information at each session to complete the patient’s case study.    Essentially, your team is working to figure out all the details of the patient’s case! What should I wear? The dress code will be casual.  We ask that you wear close-toed shoes.   If you have longer hair, you may want to bring something to pull it back, as you will be doing a lot of hands-on activities in simulation labs across campus. What will I receive as part of my Health Pack? Students will receive a stethoscope, operating room attire, goggles, exercise band, sterile gloves, gauze, goniometer, pen light, tape measure, a journal, pen, and a messenger bag. Will lunch be provided? Yes, lunch will be provided, and we will supply snacks during breaks in the morning and afternoon. We will be eating lunch in the college dining hall. Is there any place we can stay if my family is traveling from a distance? If your family is traveling from a distance, the Hampton Inn, 180 Charlotte Drive, Altoona, PA 16601, offers a discounted rate for the camp.  Your family can contact the hotel and ask for the Mount Aloysius College rate. What happens if I feel ill or get sick while at the camp? The college will have two onsite nurses available during the camp to assist participants that may become sick. If I attended last summer, can I attend again? The camp will have a similar design as in the past, and we hope to allow as many new students as possible to participate. Any student who participated in the camp in the past will be added to the waitlist for the camp. If a past attendee does end up attending the camp again, they will not be eligible for a second scholarship for completing the camp.
