Join textile artist Peggy Black for a hands-on workshop exploring the beauty and history of this traditional Japanese mending technique. Rooted in resourcefulness and creativity, boro uses layered fabric scraps and simple running stitches to repair and strengthen worn textiles—transforming them into something both functional and artful. Over the course of four sessions, participants will learn foundational layering and stitching methods while creating their own small, quilted patch. Your finished piece can be transformed into a framed artwork, a decorative pillow accent, or a one-of-a-kind patch for clothing. All supplies are provided—just bring your curiosity and creativity. This four-part workshop will be held June 2, 4, 9, and 11 from 5:30–6:45 PM. Please plan on attending all four sessions to complete your project. Open to ages 16 and up. The workshop is currently full. This workshop is made possible by the generous support of the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art’s Artist Residency Program.

Guests will walk away learning about the people who continually molded The Diamond in parallel with the ever-changing direction of U.S. History. Guided Tours will be offered at 10 AM, 12 PM & 2 PM. Tours are free to attend and begin outside the main entrance of the Library building. Tours are outdoors and circle The Diamond with the use of sidewalks and crosswalks. Join Commodore Glenn Smith and the crew of the USS Solstice for an engaging, hands-on event that blends science, imagination, and fun for all ages. Participants will explore a variety of interactive stations, including a LEGO space setup, a comet demonstration, a Star Trek technology display board, and opportunities to learn how to use telescopes. Weather permitting, guests can safely observe the Sun through solar telescopes. Activities will also include calculating distances in space, discovering how weight changes on different worlds, and exploring the science behind Star Trek concepts. To top it off, attendees may even have the chance to take photos in a Captain’s chair with a themed backdrop and transporter experience, making for an unforgettable journey into science and sci-fi. Drop in anytime between noon and 2:00 p.m. to launch your imagination, explore the galaxy, and chart your own course through science and space!

Join us for the Inaugural Golf Outing benefitting the Ligonier Valley Library on June 19th at Ligonier Country Club! This exciting day on the course brings together community members and supporters to support the library’s programs and services. Golfers of all skill levels are welcome—register as a single player or as part of a foursome. The cost is $175 per golfer and includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf, skill contests and prizes, a luncheon buffet, and a voucher for an additional round of golf at the club. The day begins with registration and breakfast at 8:00 AM, followed by a 9:00 AM shotgun start. All proceeds benefit the Ligonier Valley Library, a registered nonprofit dedicated to serving the community.
