Welcome to the Summer Music Academy (SMA) Registration form. The SMA is a part of the QCSD Summer Camps program and is available to QCSD and non-QCSD grade school students and is designed to help student musicians work on their skills throughout the summer. Read more information about the program below and complete one registration for each child in the household participating in the SMA. SMA Registration will be open until Friday, May 30, 2025. This is a strict cut-off date; no registrations will be accepted after this date. PROGRAM DURATION & OVERVIEW The SMA is a 6-week instrumental music lesson program that runs from mid-June to the last week in July. The 2025 start date is June 16, 2025 and the end date is July 31, 2025. You will be able to indicate preference of lesson day and time in the registration. Morning lesson times range from 8-11AM and afternoon lesson times range from 12-3 PM. There are no lessons past 4 PM/evening lessons. There are no lessons on Fridays. Students attend one, 45-minute small group lesson taught by a highly-qualified Music Teacher. Lessons are at Strayer Middle School. Instruments offered:  Entering 3rd grade and older: violin, viola, cello, string bass, beginner piano. String days are Monday & Tuesday AM/PM. Piano days are Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. Entering 4th grade and older: flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello, string bass, beginner piano, beginner guitar. The cost is $255 for three lessons for the 6-week program. Tuition must be paid online at the time of registration. There are no tuition refunds if a student does not attend their lesson for any reason, and music teachers are not obligated to make-up lessons if a student does not attend their regularly-scheduled lesson for any reason.   Students must register for the instrument that they play during the school year. If the student wants to try a different instrument, they must first get the approval from their current or most recent band or orchestra director before making the switch. We do not recommend switching to a new instrument just for the sake of trying something new. Welcome to the Summer Music Academy (SMA) Registration form. The SMA is a part of the QCSD Summer Camps program and is available to QCSD and non-QCSD grade school students and is designed to help student musicians work on their skills throughout the summer. Read more information about the program below and complete one registration for each child in the household participating in the SMA. SMA Registration will be open until Friday, May 30, 2025. This is a strict cut-off date; no registrations will be accepted after this date. PROGRAM DURATION & OVERVIEW The SMA is a 6-week instrumental music lesson program that runs from mid-June to the last week in July. The 2025 start date is June 16, 2025 and the end date is July 31, 2025. You will be able to indicate preference of lesson day and time in the registration. Morning lesson times range from 8-11AM and afternoon lesson times range from 12-3 PM. There are no lessons past 4 PM/evening lessons. There are no lessons on Fridays. Students attend one, 45-minute small group lesson taught by a highly-qualified Music Teacher. Lessons are at Strayer Middle School. Instruments offered:  Entering 3rd grade and older: violin, viola, cello, string bass, beginner piano. String days are Monday & Tuesday AM/PM. Piano days are Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. Entering 4th grade and older: flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello, string bass, beginner piano, beginner guitar. Flute day is Monday  PM. Brass days are Monday AM & Thursday AM/PM. Percussion day is Monday AM/PM. String days are Monday & Tuesday AM/PM. Here is the lesson availability by teacher/day: Mrs Urquhart - flutes/double reeds - Monday PM Ms Ziemba - clarinets/saxophones - Wednesday AM/PM (week of July 7, Ms. Ziemba's lessons will be on Th, 7/10) Mr Clymer - brass & beginner piano - Monday afternoons & Thursday AM/PM Ms Walton - percussion - Monday AM/PM Mr Waldron - strings, beginner piano, beginner guitar - Monday AM/PM & Tuesday AM/PM PIANO STUDENTS Piano lessons are for beginner level students with no prior piano lesson experience. Families must have an acoustic piano or piano keyboard with full-size keys for daily practice at home. REGISTRATION & TUITION SMA registration will be open until Friday, May 30, 2025.
