She is currently incorporating soft oil techniques into her growing palette of skills.Jim Agnello is a dedicated artist who has resided in Blaine for 40 years. After a severe stroke left him unable to use his right hand, he began drawing with his non-dominant hand. Same-day registration takes place at 8 am at Cottonwood Beach, before the start of the run. The run starts at Cottonwood Beach and follows the Berm, with the turn-around near Lora Lane. At the Everson Library, we'll have indoor and outdoor games, crafts, snacks, drinks, and a scavenger hunt throughout the day, but we also have two extra special happenings in the afternoon. The first 100 people that show up between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM will get one free paleta (delicious Mexican ice pops; additional paletas will be available for purchase while supplies last), and at 2:00 PM we'll be whacking a piñata!All fun, food, and games are courtesy of the Friends of the Everson Library, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports the Everson Library. At the Sumas branch, the Friends of the Sumas Library (FOSL) will host a carnival! Join us for a host of fun activities including various relays and games such as egg relays, sack races, and a cupcake walk. There will also be a chance to pie-in-the-face the Sumas Library branch manager Paul Fullner, as well as other well-known locals. A limited supply of cotton candy will also be given out! The Blaine Library is pleased to announce our Summer Exhibition of local artists: Maria Monks and Jim AgnelloMaria Monks began her journey to becoming a painter later in life. She studied under many notable artists in a variety of different locations, plus participated in multiple workshops with other fine artists. She is currently incorporating soft oil techniques into her growing palette of skills.Jim Agnello is a dedicated artist who has resided in Blaine for 40 years. After a severe stroke left him unable to use his right hand, he began drawing with his non-dominant hand. Since then, he continues to create art daily.Exhibits will be on display at the Blaine Library during library open hours, from July through September

Marion Bartl has been making art for 40 plus years; drawing, watercolor and every type of printing including the latest encaustic monotypes. This show highlights a new method Marion has been experimenting with using colored wax on a heated surface to draw and then cover with paper. Using mats the size of the pre-stretched canvases, Marion searched for the parts of the larger surface that she liked and then cut out and glued the designs to the stretched canvas boxes.
