Join Park Ranger Anthony Killion on Saturday, May 17th for an immersive driving tour titled “Logistics Wins the Day” at Shiloh National Military Park. This unique three-hour event will delve into the strategic complexities following the intense April 1862 Battle of Shiloh, where a staggering 23,746 Americans were casualties amid the rugged Tennessee landscape.As the dust settled in the aftermath of the battle, the Confederate Army had not accomplished their goal to regain lost ground in western Tennessee while delivering a decisive blow to their adversaries. For the United States Army licking their wounds at Pittsburg Landing, the critical objective remained the capture of the railroad crossing at Corinth, Mississippi.Ranger Anthony will guide the caravan from Pittsburg Landing along the Tennessee River to the strategic rail crossover in Corinth, featuring select stops that highlight the significant terrain over which the Siege of Corinth unfolded. Attendees will learn how Union logistics played a vital role in supporting the advance towards Corinth, and what pivotal events took place during the siege itself.As the tour progresses, participants will have the opportunity to explore the defensive strategies employed by both armies and the skillful Confederate withdrawal that occurred right under Union observation.Important Information for Participants:Reservations: The program is limited to 10 vehicles. Advanced reservations are required. Please call the Shiloh Visitor Center at (731) 689-5696 to secure your spot.Preparation: Attendees are encouraged to bring water and dress appropriately for the weather. Be prepared for a short walk of up to 400 yards over uneven terrain.Meeting Point: The tour will commence at 9:00 a.m. at Pittsburg Landing, located near the Shiloh Visitor Center, and will conclude in downtown Corinth at 12:00 p.m.Don't miss this opportunity to explore one of the Civil War's most significant campaigns with Ranger Anthony Killion. This year will include a Vietnam War exhibit of uniforms and artifacts. The exhibits will be on display from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Firing demonstrations of weapons from all eras will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. both Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25. More information TBA.

Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs and join us for the annual Memorial Day ceremony in the Shiloh National Cemetery. The one-hour service remembering the sacrifice of American service personnel begins at 11:00 am. More information TBA.

Shiloh will be commemorating the Juneteenth National Freedom Day on Saturday, June 21, at the Corinth Contraband Camp. at 850 N. Parkway in Corinth. Join park rangers as we repurpose items for a commemorative art project. The Corinth Contraband Camp is considered the "Birthplace of Freedom" for thousands of African-Americans who had fled plantations and farms seeking safety within the lines of the Union Army in Corinth. This model camp served as the place where many tasted freedom for the first time.   Please call the Corinth Civil War Center at 662-287-9273 to register in advance. In the event of bad weather, activities will be moved to the Corinth Civil War Center.

Shiloh presents vintage base ball on the battlefield! On Sunday, July 20, Shiloh will host a double header presented by the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball. At 12:00 p.m. the Nashville Maroons will square off against the Franklin Farriers. At 2:00 p.m. the Farriers will again take the field versus the Phoenix of East Nashville. The teams will play in period uniforms using the rules and regulations adopted in 1863, during the Civil War. The Civil War is credited with helping spread America's past-time all over the country. The games are free, so bring your lawn chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy some competative baseball the way the soldiers palyed it 160 years ago. For more information contact the park's visitor center at 731.689.5696.
