Learn the basics of fishing and reel one in! Join a ranger or angler education volunteer to learn the basics of fishing. Participants will have the opportunity to practice casting using the backyard bass game and test their luck fishing in the Blanco River. All fishing gear will be provided. Fishing license NOT required.Poles are limited and will be used on a first-come, first-served basis. The same lesson will be offered both days to accommodate more students.This semester, we are deep diving into the popular pollinators across the Texas Hill Country. Walk off that Thanksgiving turkey with a guided history walk! Join Ranger Katy for a post-Thanksgiving stroll through Blanco State Park. We will explore the lasting legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and admire the historic structures they built that still stand today. Join us and learn what daily life was like for the young men who helped shape the park nearly a century ago.This walk is ~1 mile long with mild elevation gain and sturdy ground throughout. Who: the whole family!Meet: Near the CCC stone bridge (After stopping at HQ, take a left at the stop sign and drive straight to the CCC bridge, located next to the Bindseil City Park entrance) Bring: Water, bug spray, sunscreen, weather appropriate clothing, and sturdy shoes.Cost: Free with park admission.
