Imagine the Hill Country of 100 years ago – see it for yourself at Honey Creek State Natural Area. This protected piece of land harbors plants and animals nurtured by a 1.5-mile spring-fed creek. Access to Honey Creek is only by guided tour. We lead two-mile tours of the natural area most Saturdays and Sundays. For details, check our Events Page at https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/honey-creek/park_events On the tour, you’ll hear about history, geology, plants, and animals of this special place. At the scenic overlook, you’ll get a first glimpse of Honey Creek winding through bald cypress trees far below. The tour culminates in a walk by the pristine and peaceful creek. The trail is about two miles long and moderate in difficulty--much of it is flat.  There are some rocky areas, slopes, and two steep but short hills.  *Expect the walk to last ~2.5 hours - there are frequent stops where your Guide will discuss topics such as flora, fauna and geology.   Who: Recommended for ages 7 and up; no dogs, please, except for service dogs Meet: Outside the Rust House (located within Guadalupe River State Park) When: 9- 11:30am Bring: Sturdy footwear, water, and sun protection.  It is imperative to dress for the weather and be hydrated during the summer months. With four miles of river frontage, the Guadalupe River takes center stage at the park.  We are open daily, with a variety of activities for all interests, ages, and abilities.  Please check the calendar at the website below for the wonderful variety of offerings!    On the river, you can swim, fish, tube, and canoe. While on land, you can camp, hike, ride mountain bikes or horses, picnic, geocache, and bird watch. We loan fishing gear and kid’s explorer packs (free!) for use in the park. Camp at one of 85 water and electric campsites or nine walk-in tent sites.  Kayak or canoe the Guadalupe River. When the water levels are good there are several options for paddling trips. Explore 13 miles of hike and bike trails.  (Sometimes, we may close trails to protect sensitive areas or for bad weather. Please observe closure signs. Call or check our Facebook page or Twitter feed for updates.) Step away from the river to find the more peaceful areas. For a more primitive experience, our remote Bauer Unit Day-use area has hiking and biking trails with ratings from moderate to challenging. Experience native prairie grasses and wildlife. River access is a 2- to 3-mile hike downhill.  The Bauer Unit has no restrooms or potable water and fires are not permitted. Pack out your trash and Leave No Trace! Learn more about the park’s natural features at the Discovery Center. Take a closer look at nature using magnifying glasses, microscopes, and binoculars. Explore hands-on discovery boxes and exhibits. Ask about borrowing an explorer pack!

This year’s fundraising festivities will take place on Saturday, March 28th at the National Shooting Complex located at 5931 Roft Road in San Antonio. This event is sure to be a fantastic day of competition and comradery for individuals, friends and corporate teams.   Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with a 9:00 a.m. start time and a 2-man Flurry taking place all day. The awards banquet is at noon, and a silent auction will be open all day. The donation for a four-person team is $600 and $20 per person for the 2-Man Flurry. $150 per individual shooter Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available at a variety of levels.   All proceeds from this fun-filled event will benefit Paralyzed Veterans of America. Camp at one of 85 water and electric campsites or nine walk-in tent sites.  Kayak or canoe the Guadalupe River. When the water levels are good there are several options for paddling trips. Explore 13 miles of hike and bike trails.  (Sometimes, we may close trails to protect sensitive areas or for bad weather. Please observe closure signs. Call or check our Facebook page or Twitter feed for updates.) Step away from the river to find the more peaceful areas. For a more primitive experience, our remote Bauer Unit Day-use area has hiking and biking trails with ratings from moderate to challenging. Experience native prairie grasses and wildlife. River access is a 2- to 3-mile hike downhill.  The Bauer Unit has no restrooms or potable water and fires are not permitted. Pack out your trash and Leave No Trace! Learn more about the park’s natural features at the Discovery Center. Take a closer look at nature using magnifying glasses, microscopes, and binoculars. Explore hands-on discovery boxes and exhibits. Ask about borrowing an explorer pack!
