Looking for an opportunity to join in on the park's restoration efforts? Help us restore the coastal prairie! This is a unique ecosystem that covered the landscape of Houston, and provides habitat for many birds, amphibians and mammals.When: Saturday, November 1, 8:30-11:00amWhere: Parking on site. The event will take place in the park's prairie. What to expect: Participants will be digging holes and planting 1-gallon native prairie plants that have been grown in the park's nursery in the prairie. We will provide all tools necessary and will provide a brief orientation.Wear: Long pants, close-toed shoes that can get muddy, and any other accessories to keep you comfortable! Prepare to get dirty!Bring: Bug spray, SPF, a wide-brim hat, 1 L of water per hour of work. Bring your own work gloves. All tools will be provided. After you sign-up, the volunteer coordinator will reach out to you to place you in one of three time slots (8:30-11am, 9-11am, 9:30-11am). Time slots are available on a first come, first served basis.Minimum age: 8 years old. For those in your party under 13, email [email protected] to register.
