Go fishing while you canoe!This special ranger-led canoe trip is aimed toward people who enjoy or want to try fishing while taking a leisurely trip on the water. We'll paddle along a Big Thicket waterway and stop to fish from the bank. Bring your fishing gear or borrow ours! No prior canoeing or fishing experience needed.Canoes, life jackets, paddles, and fishing gear are provided. Visitors are asked to bring water, snacks, and water shoes. Canoe trips start in the morning (actual start time depends on the season) and take 3-4 hours.The location of the canoe trip will be provided upon registration. Have you ever experienced the Big Thicket at night?Bring your flashlight to join a ranger on a hike through the Big Thicket in the dark. This hike will explore some of the stories that make the Big Thicket special and mysterious. If you enjoy legends and real-life stories of the Big Thicket, this is the hike for you! Please bring a flashlight and shoes suitable for hiking. Meet at the Sundew Trail, on County Road 1910 between Kountze and Warren.

Trash Clean-Up: US 96 Boat Launch (Lumberton)

This 1-mile, hour-long walk on the Pitcher Plant Trail will give you an up-close look at these unusual plants.The Pitcher Plant Trail is located near Warren, TX. From US Hwy 69/287 in Warren, go east on FM 1943, then south on County Road 4850, and look for the trail parking area.

Help keep our waters beautiful as you canoe!Volunteer with us as you paddle along a scenic waterway inside Big Thicket National Preserve. Learn canoe skills, enjoy the beauty, and help keep our waterways clean by picking up trash along the way.We provide canoes, paddles, life jackets, trash pick-up supplies, and rangers to guide you. Please bring water, snacks, water-ready shoes, and any other gear you might need for a day outside. Trips typically take 3-4 hours.Reservations:Call 409-951-6700 to reserve.Participants will be signed up as volunteers—please provide an email address for volunteer paperwork when you reserve.We have 16 seats available per trip. Please limit one family per reservation.

Canoe trip leader will provide specific location 1-2 days before the trip. Trips are usually on Village Creek in Kountze, Silsbee, or Lumberton, or Neches River in Beaumont.
