Join park rangers for a guided canoe trip on the waters of the preserve. The program targets the casual and novice paddler. Canoes, life jackets, and paddles are provided. Visitors are asked to bring water, snacks, and water shoes. Canoe trips start in the morning (actual start time depends on the season) and take 3-4 hours.The location of the canoe trip will be provided upon registration. Please call the visitor center at 409-951-6700 to reserve your spot. We have 16 seats available per trip. Please limit one family per reservation. Reservations open 2 weeks prior to trip.

Join Ranger Nathan for an introduction into identifying the wild edibles of Big Thicket!The guided portion of the hike will be a over a mile, lasting 60 minutes or more depending on weather and seasonal conditions. Both seasoned naturalists and first-time foragers are welcome, and are certain to have a "berry" good time.After the program concludes, participants will have multiple routes to return to the parking area at their own pace. Visitors should prepare for at least a 2 mile, 90 minute commitment in total. No food will be consumed or harvested on this walk.No reservations required. Meet at Kirby Nature Trail.
