Oquirrh Elementary School is accepting nominations for the School Community Council. We have 3 open parent positions up for election. Please submit names of anyone you would like to nominate. You may also nominate yourself on the form below. If submitting a name other than your own, please talk with your nominees to make sure they would be willing to serve in this position prior to turning this in. Nominees must have children at Oquirrh for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years. The School Community Council consists of 6 parents/guardians and two licensed school employees and the principal. Except for the principal, each person serves on the committee for 2 years and then their position comes up for election again. The term will begin in the Fall of the 2026-27 school year. Nominations are open Jan 21st through Feb 10th. If there are more nominees than the 3 open parent/guardian positions, elections will be held at the school Feb. 11th and 12th during Parent Teacher Conferences. There will be a ballot box inside the office. We encourage all parents to vote. You may vote for up to 2 candidates on the ballot sheet but only fill out one ballot sheet per voter. In the event that we do not have enough nominees for an election, current SCC members will choose a candidate. The School Community Council members have roles in helping to recommend a course of action to meet critical academic needs at our school, make recommendations for school safety, including internet safety and safe walking routes, and help develop the plan for the spending of Land Trust funds. They meet a minimum of three times each school year.

JORDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT'S 6TH ANNUAL VIRTUAL HEALTH & WELLNESS DAY, FEBRUARY 6 (NO IN-PERSON LEARNING THIS DAY) This year's theme for JSD's Student Health & Wellness Day focuses on learning how to manage stress which is one of the most important skills for overall well-being, success, and happiness. A "Stress-Buster" is an action, habit, or practice that is scientifically proven to help your brain and body effectively handle the daily pressures and stressors you encounter. JSD's Health & Wellness Team has selected 5 key Stress-Busters and created activities for our District's patrons to practice at home. The five stress-busters are Quality Sleep, Supportive Relationships, Balanced Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Mindfulness Practices. See the full list of activities HERE. Enter JSD's drawing for some exciting prizes by filling out this brief survey after completing Wellness Day activities with your student. It will remain open until February 17th.

Each week parents are invited (by invitation) to come and help celebrate their student's recognition in class by our principal, Ms. Ludlow.
